Woodie King Jr's New Federal Theatre kicks off its 44th season with 'The Ed Bullins Project' - two revivals from his 'Twentieth Century Cycle of Plays' - In The Wine Time and The Fabulous Miss Marie. Bullins, winner of the prestigious NY Drama Critics' Circle Award and OBIE Award for The Taking of Miss Janie, has greatly influenced American theatre, especially Black theatre. His work, characterized by disdain for ineffective political rhetoric as a substitute for action, most often examines the lives of Black people in the inner city. In 1968, Clive Barnes, writing in the New York Times called Bullins 'a welcome addition to the ranks of New York playwrights.' Four years later, Barnes added 'Bullins writes the way Charlie Parker played: It is all so easy and effortless. It sounds improvised, and yet it doesn't sound improvised, simply because it is the improvisation of formality.' Today, Bullins is regarded as a seminal force in the American theater.

The producers of the 2013 Tony Award winning Best Revival of a Musical PIPPIN have announcedthat a new block of tickets have gone on sale and seats are now available for purchase through August 31, 2014. The producers of the Tony Award winning new Broadway production of PIPPIN have just announced that two-time Tony Award nominee Christopher Sieber (La Cage aux Folles, Shrek The Musical) will play the role of 'Charles' on Sunday, September 1 through Wednesday, September 4 and Sunday, September 15 through Wednesday, September 25 while three-time Tony Award nominee Terrence Mann is on vacation. Hoberman. The series, which will be accompanied by a new monograph written by Hoberman, includes nineteen films, and will be presented by Museum of the Moving Image from August 10 through September 1. The films include established classics such as Rosemary's Baby, The French Connection, Midnight Cowboy, and Dog Day Afternoon, as well as lesser known films such as The Angel Levine, Bye Bye Braverman, and Cotton Comes to Harlem.
