Tony Award winner Priscilla Lopez, who appeared in the legendary original cast of A Chorus Line and was also a replacement for the role of “Fastrada” in the original production of Pippin in 1973, will join the all-new Tony Award winning production of Pippin in the role of “Berthe” for a limited engagement, Tuesday, July 22 – Wednesday, August 27. Annie Potts will play her final performance in the role on Sunday, July 20. Tony Award winner John Rubinstein, who created the role of Pippin in the original 1972 production, will extend his run in the show as “Charles” through Sunday, August 17. PIPPIN is now playing at the Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street).

Broadway In Chicago has announced that the Tony Award winning Broadway Musical PIPPIN will play Chicago's Cadillac Palace Theatre (151 W Randolph) for two weeks only, July 28 - August 9, 2015.

Woodie King Jr's New Federal Theatre continues its 44th season with the second play of 'The Ed Bullins Project' dedicated to the pioneer of the Black Arts Movement and one of America's most important and influential playwrights: The Fabulous Miss Marie, first produced in 1971 at the New Lafayette Theatre in Harlem began performances April 17th and continues through May 18th, with opening night set for tonight, May 1st. Woodie King Jr directs a cast that features Tony and Drama Desk Award winner Tonya Pinkins and Roscoe Orman ('Sesame Street') along with Toccarra Cash, Michael Chenevert, Ugo Chukwu, Aaliyah Habeeb, Beethovan Oden, G. Although the legendary Duke Ellington passed away on May 24, 1974, nearly 40 years ago, his fame and stature continue to grow and blossom. Just this past year alone, After Midnight, a big band musical featuring all-Ellington music in a tribute to Harlem's famous Cotton Club, opened on Broadway and is one of the favorites for winning a TONY Award this year; an SRO audience cheered the hundreds of students who participated in Arranging Ellington, concert of Ellington's sacred music, at Carnegie Hall this past March 23; and the Duke Ellington Center Big Band is finalizing plans for concert tours of France and the US during the upcoming year.

Schwartz has won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Lyrics, three Grammy Awards, three Academy Awards and has been nominated for six Tony Awards.
