The National Theatre has today announced its programming until the start of next year with productions on all three South Bank stages as well as three major UK tours, two productions on Broadway, a return to cinemas, and a new feature film to be broadcast on television this autumn. In the week the theatre reopened for audiences again, six new productions were announced, and five productions halted by the pandemic were confirmed to return to the South Bank.

On January 28, BroadwayWorld was saddened to report that stage and screen icon Cicely Tyson has died at age 96. Tyson's family has set as official public viewing date. The viewing will take place on February 15 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET at the Abyssinian Baptist Church in New York City.
Cicely Tyson won a 2013 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for her performance in The Trip to Bountiful and was also nominated for an Emmy Award for the 2014 television movie version.

These run alongside our international touring productions, three plays that will tour to multiple venues across the UK and a West End transfer. Roundabout just revealed that costume designer Jeff Mashie included a hat worn by the late Marin Mazzie, in his design for Kelli O'Hara. Mazzie played the role 'Kate/Lilli Vanessi, in 1999.

Goodwin joins previously announced cast member Lucy Liu. The Geffen Playhouse today announced the full cast for its world premiere production of Amanda Peet's Our Very Own Carlin McCullough. The play will feature Mamie Gummer (The Good Wife, True Detective) as Cyn, Abigail Dylan Harrison (The Affair) as Carlin at 10, Caroline Heffernan as Carlin at 17, Tyee Tilghman as Saleef and Joe Tippett (Rise, Broadway's Waitress) as Jay. Seven time Emmy Award-winner Ed Asner and three time Emmy Award and Tony Award-nominee Kate Burton will star in a two-week East Coast tour of concert readings of Jeff Cohen's play The Soap Myth. The readings, which will be directed by Pam Berlin and will also feature Ned Eisenberg & Blair Baker, will serve as a tribute to International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The tour will begin on Monday, January 22, 2018 in Miami Beach Florida, and will conclude on Thursday, February 1 at Hofstra University on Long Island.
