Trinity Rep announces auditions for children 8-12 years of age for its upcoming production of beloved New England tradition, A Christmas Carol.  Auditions will take place Saturday, September 8, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm at Cardi's Furniture, at 999 Newport Avenue, Attleboro, MA.

Trinity Rep has received a $255,000 multi-year grant from the Rhode Island Foundation to support the implementation of its new, three-year strategic plan, which calls for doubling the number of new subscribers by 2020 and broadening its marketing and offerings to attract a more diverse audience.

In support of its commitment to theater for all, Trinity Repertory Company announces a series of moderately-adjusted performances of shows in the 2018-19 Season to meet the needs of audience members with autism and/or with sensory-processing disorders. Sensory-friendly performances will be identical to other performances of the run, but will feature a lantern placed discretely in the theater to let patrons know when a loud sound or intense lighting cue (such as strobe lights) is about to play, giving them the chance to close their eyes or block their ears. Tickets to Trinity Rep's sensory-friendly performances can be purchased as a subscription starting at $114 for all six plays or starting at $25 for single productions. Subscriptions are available now and non-subscription tickets will go on sale August 14, 2018.

On July 1, 1968, The Band's landmark debut album, Music from Big Pink, seemed to spring from nowhere and everywhere. Drawing from the American roots music panoply of country, blues, R&B, gospel, soul, rockabilly, the honking tenor sax tradition, hymns, funeral dirges, brass band music, folk, and rock 'n' roll, The Band forged a timeless new style that forever changed the course of popular music. Fifty years later, the mythology surrounding Music from Big Pink lives on through the evocative storytelling of its songs including 'The Weight,' 'This Wheel's On Fire,' 'Tears of Rage,' and 'To Kingdom Come,' its enigmatic cover art painted by Bob Dylan, the salmon-colored upstate New York house - 'Big Pink' - where The Band wrote the songs, and in myriad descendant legends carried forth since the album's stunning arrival.

Trinity Repertory Company, in partnership with Rhode Island Latino Arts (RILA), announces the third year of its program Teatro en El Verano (Theater in the Summer). This year's production features the bilingual English-Spanish adaptation of William Shakespeare's The Tempest (La Tempestad) translated by Orlando Hernandez and will be directed by Brown/Trinity MFA rising second-year Tatyana-Marie Carlo. La Tempestad will tour throughout Rhode Island from June 28-July 27, 2018. Play Me Again Pianos, a nonprofit charity dedicated to installing and permanently maintaining 88 public pianos throughout the Atlanta area, announced today its newest piano will be unveiled outside Grange Hall at Serenbe on Saturday, June 16, at 4:30 p.m.  Play Me Again Pianos invites the community to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the piano named "Ida." The event will feature a brief performance from Serenbe community members, after which Ida will be available for everyone to play and enjoy.

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will pay homage to the glittering world of Hollywood musicals with Mad About Musicals!, a special month of programming celebrating timeless movie musicals such as The Wizard of Oz, Singin' in the Rain and Cabaret. TCM is once again partnering with Ball State University and Canvas to offer a free online multimedia course tied to this programming special about the history of the musical genre and its evolution with cultural and technological shifts. The Center for Ballet and the Arts at New York University (CBA), the first international institute devoted to the creation and academic study of ballet, today announced the 27 artists and scholars who will serve as CBA Fellows in the 2018-19 academic year. The group - which represents The Center's largest and most far-reaching cohort yet - features distinguished individuals in a range of disciplines, including scholar Cecile Feza Bushidi, lighting designer Brandon Stirling Baker, choreographer Chase Brock, choreographer, filmmaker, and dancer Pontus Lidberg, and scholar Janice Ross, among others.

This August, New York City will host the first ever Classical Bridge, an international music festival, academy and conference designed to build bridges through the music. San Diego Theatre Connection announces BEARSPRAY, a ONE NIGHT ONLY Special Event May 12th at the Lyceum Theatre Downtown. Written by local playwright, Bill Kerlin, this musical parody uses familiar tunes with original lyrics, choreography, and a hilarious new story. Set in 1963 in the fictional town of Mimosa Heights, a cast of characters led by 'Tangy' Tonic are determined to find a clean, sober life beyond their wildest dreams including a chance to dance on the 'Corky Poppers Show'.

Trinity Rep closes out its 2017-18 Season with the Tony Award-winning musical Ragtime, which was written by Terrence McNally (book), Stephen Flaherty (music), and Lynn Ahrens (lyrics). Under the direction of Artistic Director Curt Columbus, Trinity Rep's production examines how the musical, which is set in 1906, reflects the country's current political and social climate. Based on the celebrated 1975 novel of the same name by E.L. Doctorow, the musical tackles race, women's rights, immigration, and workers' rights. Ragtime runs April 26 - May 27 in Trinity Rep's Elizabeth and Malcom Chace Theater, with press opening on Monday, April 30 at 7:30 pm. Tickets start at $25. Designed to meet the needs of children and adults on the autism spectrum, and/or individuals with sensory processing disorders or other cognitive disabilities, this sensory-friendly performance features modified sound, lighting and other adjustments. Patrons are invited to make sounds, enter and exit as needed during the performance and enjoy the show with their families.

Skidmore Theater is pleased to announce its Spring Director's Lab, Maybe Tomorrow, Maybe Next Year, conceived and directed by new Skidmore Theater faculty member John Michael DiResta. DiResta comes to Skidmore as a 2014 Drama League Fellow, and has previously directed at Yale University, Steppenwolf Theater Garage, and the Hangar Theatre. Maybe Tomorrow, Maybe Next Year is a new collaborative work inspired by Bob Dylan's seminal 1974 album Blood on the Tracks.
