This enchanting musical tells the tale of Dorothy Gale (Devon Perry), who lives on a Kansas farm with her aunt and uncle and dreams of one day traveling 'Over The Rainbow'. One day, a tornado sweeps her house up into the sky and Dorothy and her little dog Toto suddenly find themselves in the magical Land of Oz! Dorothy joins Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion and they journey through the magical Land of Oz to meet the Wizard and obtain their hearts' desires.

With book and lyrics by Jake Brunger and music and lyrics by Pippa Cleary, this new musical of Sue Townsend's best seller will open on 17 March 2015, with previews from 7 March, and runs until 4 April. Tickets are on public sale on Thursday 10 July.

Chicago Symphony Orchestra Principal Trombonist Jay Friedman will conduct his unique brass arrangement of Richard Strauss' landmark tone poem An Alpine Symphony to open the Music Academy of the West's first orchestra concert of the 2014 Summer School and Festival in Santa Barbara's newly renovated Lobero Theatre at 8 pm on Saturday, June 21. The program also will include Prokofiev's 'Classical' Symphony and Beethoven's Symphony No. 2 under the baton of acclaimed conductor Larry Rachleff, who has led the Academy Festival Orchestra in triumphant season-opening performances each of the past six years. The NY Times reports that as of September 2015, William Forsythe will no longer run the Forsythe Company. Instead, he will continue as artistic adviser. Jacopo Godani has been named the new artistic director.

Carnegie Hall today announced that conductor Michael Tilson Thomas has graciously agreed to step in for Yannick Nezet-Seguin, leading The Philadelphia Orchestra's performance in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage this Friday, December 6 at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Nezet-Seguin has cancelled this appearance as well as concerts this week in Philadelphia on medical advice that he not travel for the next few weeks due to sinus-related problems. Pianist Helene Grimaud is soloist for this performance; Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 1 will replace the previously-announced Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 2 at her request. The second half of the program, featuring Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique, remains as announced.
