BroadwayWorld Congratulates Tim Hatley, 2009 Tony Award Winner, 'Best Costume Design of a Musical'

The Public Theater's Artistic Director Oskar Eustis and Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson announced today that the 2009-2010 Season will feature premieres by Peter Sellars, Richard Foreman, Tarell Alvin McCraney, Mike Daisey, and Suzan-Lori Parks and include performances by John Ortiz, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Willem Dafoe.

Students from 44 Kansas City area high schools, who performed in 48 musical productions during the 2008-09 school year, sang and danced their way into the spotlight at Starlight Theatre tonight. During Starlight's seventh annual Blue Star Awards ceremony, their theatrical talents and achievements were cheered by more than 2,000 parents, friends, teachers and theatre fans attending the free public event.

The second half of Tarell Alvin McCraney's groundbreaking trilogy The Brother/Sister Plays will begin preview performances at McCarter Theatre Center (91 University Place, Princeton, NJ) on Thursday, May 14 (press opening: May 22). Comprised of the second and third plays in the trilogy-The Brothers Size and Marcus; or The Secret of Sweet (world premiere)-Part 2 is directed by Robert O'Hara.

Country music star, CMA Winner, ACM Winner and four-time Grammy Nominee Joe Nichols has been offered the role made famous by George Strait in the Broadway production of the hit movie, Pure Country. According to producer Randall L. Wreghitt, the musical is in the process of securing the remainder of its financing and casting, and plans to open in early 2010.

The New York Pops led by Vincent Falcone and Eric Stern, celebrates its hometown on Friday, November 7, 2008 at 8 p.m. at Carnegie Hall in a program entitled 'A Love Letter to New York' featuring classic songs about New York City and the world premieres of original songs about the city by composer Kenneth Laub. The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) will present a one-night-only reading of THE BREACH, a new play by Catherine Filloux, Tarell Alvin McCraney, and Joe Sutton. THE BREACH will be performed at The Public Theater on Monday, September 22 at 7 p.m. The reading is free and open to the public.
