Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) has announced complete casting for RANCHO VIEJO, the world premiere of a new play by Dan LeFranc (The Big Meal at Playwrights, Sixty Miles to Silver Lake, In the Labyrinth) and directed by three-time Obie Award winner Daniel Aukin (Placebo, This at Playwrights; Fool For Love; Bad Jews; 4000 Miles; [sic]).  Commissioned by Playwrights Horizons, RANCHO VIEJO will be the third production of the theater company's 2016/2017 Season.   

Museum of the Moving Image will present the most comprehensive U.S. retrospective of all of the Polish director's features, short films, early documentary work, and a marathon viewing of the Dekalog, from October 7 through November 6, 2016. The series will also include four posthumous works based on Kieslowski's unproduced screenplays.

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, is pleased to present the 15th annual National Showcase of New Plays (NSNP).

Porchlight Music Theatre announces the Chicago premiere of End of the Rainbow, November 4 - December 4,  featuring music from the songbook of Judy Garland, written by Peter Quilter, starring Angela Ingersoll as "Judy Garland," direction by Porchlight Music Theatre Artistic Director Michael Weber, music direction by Jon Steinhagen, who also appears as "Anthony," at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave.

Andrew Bovell's When the Rain Stops Falling continues the Wilma Theater's 2016-17 season. A fish falls from the sky in the year 2039. A man named Gabriel prepares to meet his adult son after being estranged for twenty years. He wonders why his son is coming and what he wants: to know who he is? Where he comes from? Where he belongs? Gabriel knows nothing; his own past escapes him. As the story of Gabriel's family unfolds onstage, his ancestors come alive around him to fill in the gaps. With its web of intricately overlapping connections, When the Rain Stops Falling follows four generations of a family from 1959 to 2039, and from London to Australia. As this family and their world evolve over time, one question remains: in the face of climate change, can we break our habits and change the way we live?

Quintessence Theatre Group continues producing progressive classic theatre and launces its seventh season with David Hare's translation of Bertolt Brecht's Mother Courage and Her Children, with original music by Michael Friedman.

Complete casting has been announced for the new musical NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812, featuring the Broadway debuts of 24 cast and creative team members, including Josh Groban* as 'Pierre' and Denee Benton* as 'Natasha.'

Gloucester Stage Company continues its 37th season of professional theater on Cape Ann with a limited run of Jason Robert Brown's Songs For A New World from August 4 through August 27 at 267 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA. Songs For A New World with music and lyrics by three time Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown is a stirring musical journey examining the moments of decision and difficult choices faced in everyday life. Known for such Broadway hits as Parade, The Bridges of Madison County, Honeymoon in Vegas, and The Last Five Years, Mr. Brown artfully blends pop, jazz and gospel in solos and ensemble styles to create this inspiring song cycle.  Directed by Gloucester Stage Artistic Director Robert Walsh, the production features five singers including Tony Award nominee Barbara Walsh, Broadway veterans Rockport's Wendy Waring and Jack Donahue, Berklee College of Music graduate Chris Pittman and  Brandeis' Nyah Macklin, all four in their Gloucester Stage debut. According to Director and GSC Artistic Director Walsh, "Songs For A New World is an enthralling evening of storytelling through song and movement reminiscent of Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris. We are so fortunate to have such a talented group of actor-singers to bring this work to our audience. On the heels of their critically acclaimed world premiere of Luna Gale, playwright Rebecca Gilman and Artistic Director Robert Falls again join forces for her newest drama, Soups, Stews, and Casseroles: 1976. Change is coming to a small Wisconsin town when a corporation acquires a local cheese manufacturer, which employs the majority of the town's working class citizens. For the Durst family, the merger presents newfound opportunity-and a moral dilemma. The Chicago premiere, which marks the play's second production following its 2014 world premiere at The Repertory of St. Louis, features Cliff Chamberlain as longtime factory employee Kim Durst; Cora Vander Broek as his wife Kat; Lindsay Stock as their daughter, Kelly. Rounding out the cast are Ty Olwin (Kyle), Angela Reed (Elaine) and Ann Whitney (JoAnne). The creative team includes Kevin Depinet (set), Richard Woodbury (sound), Jenny Mannis (costumes) and Jesse Klug (lights). Kimberly Osgood is the production stage manager. Soups, Stews, and Casseroles: 1976 appears May 21 - June 19 in the Owen Theatre (opening night is Monday, May 31).
