It was circa 1993 when I was introduced to the brilliance of August Wilson by my high school theatre teacher Rodney Sheffield. I remember reading the play in one day, and from then on I was infatuated with Wilson's writing style and dynamic characters. Being a black kid in the theatre, there wasn't much for me to identify with, so Wilson quickly became a theatre icon in my eyes. Fast forward to 2000 and I got to play Cory in my last year of undergrad. My thesis was on the parallels of Wilson's FENCES and Miller's DEATH OF A SALESMAN. Here we are 16 years later and this play has crept up on my radar yet again! I had the pleasure of seeing The Ensemble Theatre's production of FENCES during the month of February and it was a great way to start my celebration of Black History Month.

After its phenomenal run on and off Broadway, the critically acclaimed five times Tony Award nominated play HAND TO GOD (including Best New Play and Best Director) makes its way to London's West End officially opens at the Vaudeville Theatre tonight 15 February 2016.

This second season will present a diverse lineup featuring award-winning author, journalist, radio and TV personality Stephen Dubner interviewed by actress, comedian and radio host Faith Salie; creator and executive producer of the Emmy Award-winning series THE SIMPSONS, Matt Groening; one of America's best contemporary writers, cartoonist and illustrator Lynda Barry; filmmaker, artist and writer, Miranda July; and legendary narrative and documentary German filmmaker, Werner Herzog.

Classical Action: Performing Arts Against AIDS continues the 2015-16 Michael Palm Series of house concerts in New York City on Saturday, February 27, 2016, with a performance featuring a stellar quartet of vocalists: bass-baritone Luca Pisaroni, soprano Anita Hartig, baritone Mariusz Kwiecien, and tenor Matthew Polenzani. Held at the magnificent Tribeca loft of Simon Yates and Kevin Roon, the event begins at 6:30pm with wine and hors d'oeuvres, followed by the concert at 7:30pm. George Street Playhouse today announced the cast of David Rush's Nureyev's Eyes, which runs February 2 through February 21 at the New Brunswick theatre.  Bill Dawes will portray Russian defector and star of ballet and screen, Rudolf Nureyev; William Connell will play painter Jamie Wyeth, the son of famed artist Andrew Wyeth and grandson of illustrator N.C. Wyeth. The production will be helmed by George Street Playhouse Resident Artistic Director Michael Mastro.
