The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University, under the leadership of Terrie and Bradley Bloom Artistic Director Diane Paulus and Executive Producer Diane Borger, raised a record $1.4 million in support of the theater's artistic, community, and education programs at its annual fundraising gala held last Monday, April 1. More than 500 guests attended the event at the Boch Center Wang Theatre that celebrated Paulus' 10th anniversary season and honored Harvard President Emerita Drew Gilpin Faust with the theater's Angel Award.

HartBeat Ensemble kicks off its 2019 WTF! (Women's Theatre Festival), a three-event series celebrating the artistic endeavors of women and non-binary playwrights, with Tonille Simone Watkis's No Boxes Allowed. Watkis, a resident of Bloomfield, CT, premiered this solo show in 2014 at the Soho Playhouse in Manhattan as a capstone project for her Adelphi University degree in Theatre Arts. She has subsequently performed this piece on identity and self-empowerment in various venues. No Boxes Allowed will be performed at HartBeat Ensemble's Carriage House Theatre for one performance only on Friday, April 12th at 7:30pm.

The Jamie Lloyd Company, the successful partnership between Artistic Director Jamie Lloyd and Ambassador Theatre Group, have announced that due to public demand their production of Harold Pinter's Betrayal at the Harold Pinter Theatre will be extended by one week. This landmark production will now end on 8 June. Directed by Jamie Lloyd, Betrayal stars Golden Globe, Olivier and Evening Standard Award winner Tom Hiddleston, Zawe Ashton and Charlie Cox.

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater, in partnership with the U.S. Embassy in Zagreb, Croatia and the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, sent four Arena Stage Voices of Now (VON) devisers/directors to Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina for three weeks from January 26-February 17, 2019. The artists worked with three ensembles of young people, two in Croatia and one in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and through workshops and rehearsals, three original plays were created and performed by the ensembles. The U.S. Ambassador to Croatia attended one of the performances featuring the Croatia ensemble's piece, and much to the students' delight, they were featured on the evening news.
