BroadwayWorld was saddened to report that Broadway veteran Merwin Foard recently passed away at 59 years old. Born September 16, 1960 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, Foard was last seen on Broadway in Aladdin as a standby for Jafar/Sultan.

REPRISE 2.0 (led by Producing Artistic Director Marcia Seligson), in association with the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television's Department of Theater (UCLA TFT) chaired by Brian Kite, presents its inaugural production of Sweet Charity.  Directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall with musical direction by Gerald Sternbach, the classic Broadway hit plays through July 1 at UCLA's Freud Playhouse. Nikki Gil (Charity Hope Valentine) and newbie theater actor, Kris Lawrence (Oscar Lindquist), led the opening of the classic Broadway musical comedy, Sweet Charity, at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium in Makati City last night.

Nikki Gil plays a dancer for hire, Charity Hope Valentine; Ciara Sotto plays one of Charity's best friends, Helene; OJ Mariano dabbles in double roles as an Italian film star, Vittorio Vidal, and as a charismatic religious leader of the Rhythm of Life Church, Daddy Johann Sebastian Brubeck; and Sheree Bautista plays one of Charity's co-dancers, Carmen; when Sweet Charity opens on Friday, August 5 at the Carlos P. Romulo Theater, RCBC Plaza Makati City.

Matthew White is to direct the Tony Award-winning musical Sweet Charity at the Menier Chocolate Factory. Sweet Charity previews from November 21 with press night on December 2, and runs until March 7, 2010.
