Registration is now open for Penobscot Theatre Company's Dramatic Academy Summer 2017, seven weeks of full-day programming for students aged 4-20. Most actors receive a standard show contract for around 12 months, but that doesn't mean every actor hangs up their shoes and immediately walks into another show. In fact, not only do some actors extend their contracts, but some make an entire career out of an individual credit. Rob Ouellette, who is currently playing pianist Oscar and a member of the tap-dancing ensemble of the 42nd STREET national tour is about to shuffle into his 1,000th performance with the show on February 16th, 2017, so we caught up with him about his experience. Not only has Rob danced his way through six different companies of the musical, but he's performed several variations of the show's choreography, has worked three times with original book writer and director Mark Bramble, as well as with choreography icons Randy Skinner, Kelli Barclay, and Rick Conant, among others.

When BEAUTIFUL - THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL opens on January 17 at Hartford's Bushnell Theatre, audiences will discover that though they may think they know the songs of Carole King, there is such a rich story behind those familiar lyrics and catchy melodies. BEAUTIFUL tells the true story of King's rise to stardom and illustrates how she made more than beautiful music, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation. Lucie Jones rose to fame on The X Factor, and has since built up a strong list of theatre credits, including Les Miserables in the West End, American Psycho at the Almeida and Legally Blonde at Leicester Curve. She's now playing Maureen in the 20th anniversary UK tour of Jonathan Larson's Rent, which begins at Theatr Clywd on 21 October and plays at London's St James Theatre on 8 December-28 January, 2017.
