Sundance Institute announced today the program of short films selected to screen at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, January 16-26 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah. The 2014 Short Film program is comprised of 66 short films selected from a record 8,161 submissions (59 more than for the 2013 Festival).

Singer, songwriter, and entertainer Paul Anka will perform at Jacksonville's Times-Union Center's Moran Theater on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 7:30pm. These performances will be broadcast nationally beginning in Spring 2014. In addition, American Songbook concerts taking place in the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse at Lincoln Center will be live-streamed via http://watch.lincolncenter.org.

Wildly clever and a bit naughty, brimming with wordplay and swordplay, David Ives' English-language adaptation of Pierre Corneille's The Liar is next up at Antaeus.Casey Stangl directs the Los Angeles premiere of this delightfully ingenious and irreverent update of a classic French romp. Previews begin Oct. 3, with two opening nights set for Oct. 10 and Oct. 11 at the Antaeus Theater in NoHo.

'Don't put all your ranking officers in one shuttle craft' is a lesson Star Trek: Enterprise's Anthony Montgomery learned well during his time aboard the Enterprise NX-01. Best known for his portrayal of Ensign Travis Mayweather in the Paramount Pictures Science Fiction TV series, Montgomery is an actor, writer, producer, graphic novelist and rap artist who is already light-years into establishing his own multi-media company.

I hardly know where to begin with this review of the Bohemian Theatre Ensemble's gutsy, stripped-down and yet somehow epic production of “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” the musical by John Kander, Fred Ebb and Terrence McNally that is running at Theatre Wit through June 30, 2013. There, I guess I just began. I'm a jumble of thoughts and feeling right now. Come to think of it, so are the three principal characters.

Despite having a cast of incredible triple threats, overall, FLASHDANCE: THE MUSICAL---the new, Broadway-bound stage musical based on the popular 80's-era movie of the same name---seems like a well-meant endeavor that needs a serious overhaul in its disjointed execution. The national tour company continues its Costa Mesa stop at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts through May 19.

Sony Masterworks releases Gloria Estefan's The Standards on September 10, 2013. Celebrating great tunes from the American Songbook, The Standards reaches out to Estefan's global fan base via international song classics sung in English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and French, some with new lyrics written by Estefan herself. Twenty-five writers and artists from around the globe were honored Sunday night, April 14, 2013 at The 29th Annual L. Ron Hubbard Achievement Awards for Winners of the International Writers and Illustrators of the Future Contests at the prestigious Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles, California. The two grand prize honors were captured by Tina Gower of Chino, CA who was awarded the The Golden Pen Award and a $5,000 cash prize and Aldo Katayanagi of Chicago, IL who was awarded the The Golden Brush Award and a $5,000 cash prize.
