The 23rd Annual Broadway Flea Market & Grand Auction held yesterday Sunday, September 27 raised a grand total of $403,929 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA). Since its debut in 1987, which then raised $12,000, the 23 editions of The Broadway Flea Market & Grand Auction have raised a grand total of $8,161,752 for BC/EFA. Producers Angelo Fraboni and Daryl Roth have announced that the New York premiere of Vigil, written by Morris Panych and directed by Stephen DiMenna, will begin performances Sunday, September 20, at 3pm at the DR2 Theatre, 103 East 15 Street, east of Union Square. The opening is scheduled for Tuesday, September 29 at 7pm.

The first BROADWAY BARES in 1992 featured seven dancers stripping on a bar and raised over $8,000. Since then, the 19 editions of BROADWAY BARES have collectively raised over $6.5 million to benefit BC/EFA. BROADWAY BARES 19.0: 'CLICK IT!' was produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, created and executive produced by Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell (Catch Me If You Can, Legally Blonde, Peepshow in Las Vegas), and was conceived and directed by Peter Gregus (Jersey Boys).

No...I am not talking about the Tony Awards...although I know where I will be that evening. The 23rd ANNUAL EASTER BONNET COMPETITION was a great success with $3,402,147 being raised this year by the participating Broadway, Off-Broadway, and National Tour companies to benefit Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS. Since it began in 1987, 23 editions of the Annual Easter Bonnet Competition have raised nearly $38 million for BC/EFA.

Sundance Institute announced today the lineup of films selected to screen in the U.S. and World Cinema Dramatic and Documentary Competitions for the 25th Sundance Film Festival. In addition to the four Competition categories, the Festival presents films in five out-of-competition sections to be announced tomorrow. The 2009 Sundance Film Festival runs January 15-25 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Sundance, Utah.
