New additions to the line-up including Tony-award winning playwright Tony Kushner, Rolling Stone writer Matt Taibbi, Aspen Institute President and CEO Walter Isaacson, French philosopher and social critic Bernard-Henri Levy, filmmaker Joe Swanberg, Obama Presidential Center architects Tod Williams and Billie Tsien, and Publican chef Paul Kahan. Before trick-or-treating begins, start the fun this October with Seattle Opera's "riotously funny" (The Australian) The Barber of Seville. Following The Wicked Adventures of County Ory ('16), stage director Lindy Hume and Maestro Giacomo Sagripanti return to create yet another colorful, eye-catching production with toe-tapping melodies-including one of the most iconic overtures of all time. The performance also includes an appearance by Juilliard-trained burlesque sensation, Marc Kenison, who performs in Seattle and beyond as Waxie Moon. Segal Theatre Center, will honor Adelheid Roosen (The Netherlands) with the Gilder/Coigney International Theatre Award (GCITA) on Monday, October 23, 2017, at the Graduate Center, CUNY, 365 Fifth Avenue, with an all-day immersion (10:00am to 8:30pm) into Roosen's life and legacy. The Ridgefield Playhouse and Craig's Fine Jewelry Live in HD Series presents an encore screening of The Met Opera:  Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier on Tuesday, May 16 at 2 p.m. The dream cast of Renee Fleming as the Marschallin and El?na Garan?a as Octavian star in Strauss's grandest opera. In his new production, Robert Carsen places the action at the end of the Habsburg Empire, underscoring the opera's subtext of class and conflict against a rich backdrop of gilt and red damask, in a staging that also stars Gunther Groissbock as Baron Ochs.
