THE TORONTO FRINGE FESTIVAL returns this summer with an extensive line-up of productions by award-winning artists, the popular POSTSCRIPT pop-up patio, and for the first time, will venture to the East End with 16 shows presented at main venue Streetcar Crowsnest. The TORONTO FRINGE takes place July 3 July 14, 2019 with 151 shows at 46 venues presented across the city, and all venues are fully accessible.

Pasadena Playhouse Producing Artistic Director Danny Feldman announces four main stage productions for 2019/2020 including new productions of favorite musicals -  Little Shop of Horrors with book and lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken, directed by Mike Donahue, and Irving Berlin's Annie Get Your Gun with book by Herbert and Dorothy Fields, directed by Sarna Lapine - and  two plays - the Los Angeles premiere of Lauren Yee's The Great Leap directed by BD Wong, a co-production with East West Players, and Alfred Molina starring in the critically acclaimed West End and Broadway hit The Father by Florian Zeller and directed by Jessica Kubzansky. One more production and additional programming will be announced at a later date.

Artistic Director David Ivers and Managing Director Paula Tomei today announced South Coast Repertory's 13-play, 2019-20 season, which builds on the theatre's 56-year foundation of stellar artistry. The offerings range from a two-person show to a large-cast musical and represent a kaleidoscope of classics and popular hits, along with four world premieres and three shows for young audiences and families. The season includes the world premiere of The Scarlet Letter by Kate Hamill, the musical She Loves Me (directed by Ivers), American Mariachi by Jose Cruz Gonzalez, Arcadia by Tom Stoppard and the beloved children's story, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. La Jolla Playhouse announces the cast and creative team for its world-premiere production of Put Your House in Order, by acclaimed Chicago playwright Ike Holter (Lottery Day), directed by Lili-Anne Brown. The show kicks off the Playhouse's 2019/2020 season, running in the Playhouse's Mandell Weiss Forum June 2 - 30.

The Grammy Museum will be hosting NOTES ON LIVING: ALL-STAR JAZZ WITH TALES BY BRIAN DOYLE May 14, 2019 as a joint benefit for WordTheatre in the Schools (WITS) and the Grammy Museum. WordTheatre's artistic director Cedering Fox will be producing and directing this evening of selected stories by award-winning author Brian Doyle, read by a star-studded cast, and accompanied by an all-star jazz band led by Starr Parodi. Cedering opened up some of her early evening time to speak to me.

The 29th annual Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film Festival (Inside Out), championing innovative LGBTQ filmmakers from across the globe, revealed its full feature and short film lineup. The announcement was made today by Inside Out's Executive Director Andria Wilson and the festival's Director of Programming Andrew Murphy. Inside Out, which launched the first ever annual LGBTQ Film Finance Forum, has established itself as an international home and incubator for LGBTQ emerging and established filmmakers. This year's festival will take place May 23 to June 2, 2019.

Los Angeles-based gritty, garage rock four-piece The Paranoyds announce today that they have signed to Suicide Squeeze, and they will release a 7-inch this summer. 'Hungry Sam' / 'Trade Our Sins' will be out on July 12th, but the A-Side and its incredible music video is out now. The new track is a binge-worthy feast of chugging guitars and belly-rounded drums that stands as a live show favorite for the band. The band prefaces its meaning: 'It's 2019. FRIGID New York @ Horse Trade in association with Manhattan Theatre Source will present the 2019 EstroGenius Festival, the longest running festival celebrating the work of women and gender non-conforming artists in NYC.  Begun in Manhattan Theatre Source in 2000 as a short-play festival, the festival has launched and supported hundreds of artists in its 19 years. In 2017 the festival moved to its new home at The Kraine Theatre on E. 4th St.

The 2019 Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, today unveiled its feature film lineup. Continuing its tradition of elevating exceptional storytelling rooted in today's global film communities, the 18th annual Festival will showcase debut works from emerging talent and new works from notable filmmakers. The program includes discoveries, comedies, music-centered, political and social films. The 2019 Tribeca Film Festival takes place April 24 - May 5.  

Today The National announced I Am Easy To Find due out May 17th on 4AD along with opening track “You Had Your Soul With You” featuring the vocals of longtime David Bowie collaborator Gail Ann Dorsey. I Am Easy To Find is the band's eighth studio album and the follow-up to 2017's GRAMMY®-award winning releaseSleep Well Beast. A companion short film with the same name will also be released with music by The National and inspired by the album. The film was directed by Academy Award-nominated director Mike Mills (20th Century Women, Beginners), and starring Academy Award Winner Alicia Vikander. More film details to be released at a later date. Mills, along with the band, is credited as co-producer of the album, which was mostly recorded at Long Pond, Hudson Valley, NY with additional sessions in Paris, Berlin, Cincinnati, Austin, Dublin, Brooklyn and more far flung locations.
