What happens when the sting of betrayal's flame is fanned by the heat of the Nile? MURDER! Agatha Christie's classic play Murder on the Nile, celebrates its 75th birthday this year having opened in Scotland at the Dundee Reparatory Theatre on January 17, 1944. Be Bold Productions has mounted a faithful production of her smoldering work Off-Broadway at the Player Theatre.

The Annual Jewish Community Center of Greater Buffalo Book and Arts Fair, celebrating its 53rd year, will showcase acclaimed authors, playwrights, artists, musicians and more.

But beyond the lovely performances and impactful presentation, hopefully viewers will come away realizing how fortunate we are for the freedoms we still have and how important it is to look out for those that are being marginalized.

RICKIE LEE JONES is that rare musician who has transcended the singer/songwriter mantle by incorporating different radio genres from the get-go and she continues that tradition on the forthcoming album KICKS, her newest collection of songs from the great American songbook. Due out June 7, the album spans two decades (50s-70s) of pop, rock and jazz, presenting her unique and sophisticated interpretations of these songs.

The Lyceum Theatre will open its exciting new 8 show season on June 6, 2019 with the Lyceum premiere of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella, followed by All Shook Up, 9 to 5 The Musical, Murder For Two, Fully Committed, Crimes of the Heart, Swingtime Canteen, and the sixth annual production of the Lyceum's unique adaptation of the Charles Dickens' classic, A Christmas Carol, closing on December 22, 2019.

Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) announces the naming of its Studio 4B for the great American entertainer, actor, singer, and comedian Danny Kaye (1911-1987) and his wife Sylvia Fine Kaye (1913-1991), an accomplished lyricist, composer, and producer who mostly collaborated with her husband, writing material that he performed. The dedication completes the naming of all of BAC's studios and theaters for gifted artists, friends and/or mentors to Founder and Artistic Director Mikhail Baryshnikov-a roster that includes philanthropist Howard Gilman; artists Jerome Robbins, John Cage, Merce Cunningham, Rudolf Nureyev; and BAC's founding managing director emerita, Christina Sterner.

The Burbank International Film Festival today announced official program selections for the 10th Annual edition of the festival set for Wednesday, September 5th, through Sunday, September 9th, 2018. 

The Morris Museum will launch its new Inside Cinema Film Series on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 10:00AM in the Bickford Theatre. During this season, this film series will focus on film Noir, and will be hosted monthly by David Landau, a professor of film at Fairleigh Dickinson University.  For each screening there will be a discussion with David before the film to provide further insights.

Meet Me In St. Louis is the picture-perfect nostalgic closer for The Muny's centennial season, a romantic musical based on the 1944 film that follows the Smith family through 1903 and into the new year as they await the opening of the 1904 World's Fair. The plot is a bit old fashioned by modern standards, but focuses on family, friendship, and love, and pays an affectionate tribute to a bygone era in St. Louis history.

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will pay homage to the glittering world of Hollywood musicals with Mad About Musicals!, a special month of programming celebrating timeless movie musicals such as The Wizard of Oz, Singin' in the Rain and Cabaret. TCM is once again partnering with Ball State University and Canvas to offer a free online multimedia course tied to this programming special about the history of the musical genre and its evolution with cultural and technological shifts.
