The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) and Signature Theatre Company (Founding Artistic Director James Houghton; Executive Director Erika Mallin) announced today that the New York premiere of Tony Kushner's THE INTELLIGENT HOMOSEXUAL'S GUIDE TO CAPITALISM AND SOCIALISM WITH A KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES will be presented in the 2010-2011 season in a co-production between The Public Theater and Signature Theatre Company, in association with the Guthrie Theater. Michael Greif, who directed the world premiere at the Guthrie in April, 2009, will direct the New York premiere, which will play March 22-June 12, 2011 at The Public Theater. Casting will be announced at a later date.

The scarlett theatre/film project, Robert E. Schneider and Jack Thomas/Bulldog Theatrical will present STUCK by Jessica Goldberg at The Clurman Theatre at Theatre Row from February 11 - 21. Marshall Pailet (The 49 Project) will direct the 90-minute play starring Anthony Alessandro, Steven Hauck, Kate Kearney-Patch, Kate MacCluggage and Athena Masci.

The Sundance Institute has chosen 8 playwrights to take part in their annual Sundance Institute Playwrights Retreat, Variety is reporting. The retreat began Monday, February 1st, and the residency will last through February 19th. The residency will take place in Ucross, Wyoming.

Anna Shapiro will return to Broadway for the first time since winning the 2007 Tony Award for her direction of 'August: Osage County' when she directs Moss Hart and George S. Following critical acclaim and popular demand, Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) has announced a three-week extension for the World Premiere of THIS, the new play by Obie Award winner Melissa James Gibson (Suitcase, [sic]). Directed by Obie Award winner Daniel Aukin ([sic], eight seasons as Artistic Director of Soho Rep), the production opened Wednesday, December 2. Originally set to run through Sunday, December 13, the limited engagement will now play through Sunday, January 3, 2010 at the theater company's Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street). This date represents the latest extension possible for the show.

Producers Randall L. Wreghitt, Chris Presley and Ellen Rusconi announced today that Warren Carlyle, the director/choreographer of the current acclaimed Broadway revival of Finian's Rainbow, has joined the creative team of the Broadway-bound musical PURE COUNTRY. Carlyle will handle Musical Staging and Choreography. Based on the hit movie of the same name, PURE COUNTRY is on track to have its Broadway premiere as part of the 2010/2011 Season.
