Houston Ballet presents American at Heart, featuring two ballets that are significant to the history American dance (George Balanchine's Apollo and Jerome Robbins's Fancy Free) and one work inspired by American popular culture and created specifically for an American company (Christopher Bruce's Hush, choreographed for Houston Ballet in 2006). Based on Mary Main's 1952 biography 'The Woman with the Whip,' EVITA focuses on the life of Argentine political leader Eva Perón, the second wife of Argentinean president Juan Perón. The story follows Evita's earlylife, acting career, rise to power, charity work, feminist involvement and untimely death at the age of 33.

Producing Artistic Director Ted Pappas has announced the line-up for Pittsburgh Public Theater's 09/10 season. The six-play subscription series begins October 1, 2009 and runs through June 27, 2010. 'Our audiences will experience a season of infinite variety,' Pappas said. 'Included are Shakespeare's best-loved play, a musical about the greatest jazz singer of all time, and a ferocious tour-de-force starring a great actress. Add to that a British comic masterpiece from a living genius and friend, a Pulitzer Prize-winning romantic comedy by an American treasure, and a sweet surprise as the finale. This season has it all,' he said. In addition, The Public will present two special engagements.

Tickets for the show are discounted 20% through the run of the show if bought as part of a four-play season subscription.
