Writers Theatre, under the leadership of Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma, announces a one-week extension to Company, featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by George Furth. The production is directed by William Brown. Company features original orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick, Orchestral Reductions by Ian Weinberger, music direction by Tom Vendafreddo and choreography by Brock Clawson. The show, originally slated to run through July 31, 2016, will add an additional week, through August 7, in the Alexandra C. and John D. Nichols Theatre at 325 Tudor Court, Glencoe.

The level of my fandom for Chris Rock is worthy of the term fanatic to say the least and I SWEAR it's not because of our mutual obsession with the New York Mets. It runs deep, is what I'm saying. I fall asleep to his standup specials and annoy my friends by sending memes of his timeless quotes. I will not apologize as his voice is one of the greats of our generation.

There are certain theatrical experiences out there that are your "vegetables". The shows that make you think about your life, choices, and the world around you. And then there are shows like "9 to 5: The Musical" which are basically dessert. Those fun bits of fluff that aren't going to change your world but make for a yummy, candy coated evening. Sure there's a bit of 1980's women's lib sprinkled on top but it's still just mostly fluff. Luckily the current production from Seattle Musical Theatre is fluff loaded with talent and a hell of a good time.
