STAGE TUBE: Unicorn Theatre Announces Extension of MY NAME IS ASHER LEV Through May 19

The powerful and emotional play 'My Name is Asher Lev,' onstage at Unicorn Theatre, has been extended an extra week and will now play through May 19, rather than ending May 12 as originally scheduled. 'With such positive response from the audience, and overwhelming ticket sales, we can't help but extend the run of the show', said Cynthia Levin, Unicorn Theatre Producing Artistic Director. National New Play Network Announces 15th Anniversary Celebration: PERMANENT COLLECTION

The NATIONAL NEW PLAY NETWORK (NNPN), the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announces the 15th Anniversary Celebration performances of Permanent Collection by Thomas Gibbons. A staged reading of the original Rolling World Premiere will be presented on Monday, April 22 at Core Member Theaters across the country, including Actor's Theatre of Charlotte (Charlotte, NC), InterAct Theatre Company (Philadelphia, PA), Kitchen Dog Theater (Dallas, TX), Riverside Theatre (Iowa City, IA), Salt Lake Acting Company (Salt Lake City, UT), and Unicorn Theatre (Kansas City, MO). Gibbons' award-winning play has gone on to more than 30 productions across the country and around the world since it was first produced in 2003.

Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers makes their Spring Philadelphia appearance at Drexel University's Mandell Theater on Friday, March 22 at 8 PM and Saturday, March 23 at 3 PM and 8 PM. The program, ONE: Gifts from Afar, features the world premiere of One, an exploration of humankind's rituals surrounding the drive to win. Offering contemporary, Zen-inspired works of poetic sensibility, Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers will pair One with the return of its critically acclaimed work Mandala Project which serves as a complementary piece for the new work. Tickets starting at $27 are available on Dance Box Office. Mandell Theater is located at 33rd and Chestnut Streets.

Now, Disney Theatrical Productions has confirmed that Aladdin, a new musical based on the Academy Award winning animated film, will play its pre-Broadway engagement at Toronto's Ed Mirvish Theatre(formerly the Canon) November 13, 2013 to January 12, 2014 and will open at Broadway's New Amsterdam Theatre in 2014. The show will feature music by Alan Menken; lyrics by the late Howard Ashman, Tim Rice and Chad Beguelin with a book by Beguelin. Casey Nicholaw will direct and choreograph.

Rehearsals for RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN'S Cinderella will begin Thursday, December 6 with preview performances starting January 25 prior to Opening Night on Sunday, March 3. (The previously announced opening date of February 24 turned out to be Oscar Night.) The box office at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway at 53rd St.) will open Monday, December 17 at 10 a.m.

Broadway stars Emily Padgett and Matthew Hydzik will star as "Alex" and "Nick" in the world premiere of FLASHDANCE - THE MUSICAL, the stage adaptation of the 1983 hit film that defined a generation. Padgett and Hydzik will be joined on stage by the legendary Rachelle Rak in the role of "Tess." Sergio Trujillo, director and choreographer for the production returned to the home of FLASHDANCE and launch of the world premiere, Pittsburgh's Heinz Hall, to announce the lead casting from a press conference. Mayor Luke Ravenstahl and Kevin McMahon, CEO of Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, were also on hand to welcome the cast and creative team to Pittsburgh and to make a proclamation, naming January 1, 2013 as FLASHDANCE DAY. The NATIONAL NEW PLAY NETWORK (NNPN), the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announces its 33rd Rolling World Premiere: Sean Christopher Lewis' Manning Up will receive three productions through the Network's Continued Life of New Plays Fund in the 2012/13 season, the Network's 15th. Manning Up will begin its Rolling World Premiere at Riverside Theatre (Iowa City, IA, October 12 - 28, 2012), followed by performances at Salt Lake Acting Company (Salt Lake City, UT, November 7 - December 9, 2012) and Actors' Summit (Akron, OH, May 16 - June 2, 2013). Lewis - a former NNPN Playwright-in-Residence - kicks off the festivities by directing the Riverside production.
