NYU Steinhardt's Program in Vocal Performance will present the musical Guys and Dolls from September 20-24, 2018. The show features music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, and is based on a story and characters of Damon Runyon. Annika Boras directs and Cynthia Cahill is the associate director.

Transport Group has announced casting for its world premiere musical, Renascence, which begins performances Friday, October 5 at 7:30pm, at the Abrons Arts Center, 466 Grand Street. Renascence has music by Carmel Dean (musical director If/Then, American Idiot), book by Dick Scanlan (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Everyday Rapture), and lyrics from the poems of Edna St. Vincent Millay. The musical is directed by artistic director Jack Cummings III and Dick Scanlan. The opening is set for Thursday, October 25 at 7:30pm.

Robert Browning, called "the entrepreneur who almost single-handedly created and filled New Yorkers' passion for world music" in the New York Times, has presented world music since April 1976. The next few months feature music from Egypt, Tunisia, Syria, India and Crete. From his years at the Alternative Center for International Arts / Alternative Museum to his 26-year tenure at World Music Institute (which he co-founded and directed from 1985 - 2011) and his past five seasons as the director of Robert Browning Associates, he has presented over 1,800 concerts of world music and dance from internationally renowned figures and emerging artists from over 100 regions.

Will Geer's Theatricum Botanicum presents the first-ever revival of a historical melodrama about the Haitian revolution that graced the stage at New York's Lafayette Theatre in Harlem in 1938 as part of the Federal Theatre Project. Haiti by William DuBois will join Theatricum's summer repertory season beginning July 28. Performances will continue at Theatricum's beautiful outdoor venue in Topanga through Sept. 29.

Long Island's newest theatrical venue The Argyle Theatre (Evan Pappas, Artistic Director) presents the Tony Award winning hit Broadway musical Hairspray with book by Marc O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, music by Marc Shaiman, and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman at The Argyle Theatre (34 West Main Street, Babylon, Long Island). The Center for Ballet and the Arts at New York University (CBA), the first international institute devoted to the creation and academic study of ballet, today announced the 27 artists and scholars who will serve as CBA Fellows in the 2018-19 academic year. On March 14, 15 and 18, 2018, the Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra (KCO) and Jody Oberfelder Projects (JOP) present Kurt Weill's Zaubernacht (Magic Night), a dance and chamber music work that will appeal to children and adults alike. For this production, choreographer Jody Oberfelder will create compelling characters based on the dynamic score, and the Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra will perform composer Kurt Weill's long-lost orchestrations-the first time the original orchestrations will be heard in New York City since Zaubernacht's American premiere in 1925. A KCO chamber music ensemble will be joined by singer Hai-Ting Chinn, and the intrepid and whimsical veteran JOP members Emily Giovine, Pierre Guilbault, Mary Madsen, Lindsey Mandolini, Ned Malouf (on stilts!), Maya Orchin, Hannah Wendel, Mei Yamanaka, and introducing 11-year-old Lyla Forest Butler! Lighting is by Savannah Bell, video design by Eric Siegel and costumes by Summer Lee Jack.

The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) announced its 2018/19 season to a packed house in Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre earlier this evening. Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL) 2018-2019 Subscription Series presented by Carnegie Hall, will open on October 25, 2018, with Bernard Labadie on the podium for his official debut as Principal Conductor of the Orchestra. Works of Haydn are the thematic thread to this 32nd Carnegie Hall subscription season and the three programs will also feature works by younger contemporaries and 20th-century composers he influenced. The program, for the first of three concerts, pairs two great masterworks of the choral repertoire, Haydn's Mass in D Minor, Hob. XXII: 11, 'Nelson Mass,' and Mozart's Requiem, K. 626.La Chapelle de Quebec, the choir founded and directed by Maestro Labadie, makes its first appearance with OSL, joined by guest soloists German tenor Lothar Odinius, French-Canadian bass-baritone Philippe Sly, and acclaimed American mezzo-soprano Susan Graham.
