BWW Previews: THE ORPHANS' HOME CYCLE at Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre

Rarely produced in full, Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre (MET) presents the entirety of Horton Foote's nine-act  Magnus Opus “The Orphans' Home Cycle” running in repertory through November 18, 2018. This massive production utilizes over 30 veteran performers from across the Metro KC area in 64 roles throughout the expansive production.

New Public Piano Headed For Serenbe

Play Me Again Pianos, a nonprofit charity dedicated to installing and permanently maintaining 88 public pianos throughout the Atlanta area, announced today its newest piano will be unveiled outside Grange Hall at Serenbe on Saturday, June 16, at 4:30 p.m.  Play Me Again Pianos invites the community to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the piano named "Ida." The event will feature a brief performance from Serenbe community members, after which Ida will be available for everyone to play and enjoy.

Famed Putin Made with 5000 Bullet Shells Makes NYC Premiere

A seven-foot-high portrait of Vladimir Putin composed of thousands of spent bullet casings from the Eastern Ukraine war front is among the highlights of a large-scale multimedia exhibit at the Ukrainian Institute of America exploring the impact of Russia's three-year-old military and propaganda war in Ukraine. From January 25th through February 4th, Five Elements of War probes the causes, turmoil, and consequences of the largest military conflict in Europe since World War II, which has already claimed more than 10,000 lives. The exhibit is the brainchild of acclaimed Ukrainian artist-activists Daria Marchenko and Daniel D. Green.

Tony Babino, performer Carol Ostrow and the Actors' Temple Board of Directors are celebrating their 101st year honoring the historic entertainers who have passed through their doors, with their annual gala YOU AIN'T HEARD NOTHIN' YET. Entertainers past and present will commemorate this mecca of modern Jewish culture, including Tony Babino, George Bettinger, Sir Frank London and Friends and special guest Star of the Yiddish Theatre, Joanne Borts. The gala takes place on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 6:30 pm in the Barbra Streisand and Milton Berle rooms of another hub of entertainment greats, the Friar's Club (57 East 55 Street, NYC).  March 21, 2017 marks the 100th birthday of Maestro Anton Coppola, the conductor and composer whose career has spanned from singing in the Metropolitan Opera Children's Chorus for the American premiere of Puccini's Turandot at age 9 to - 91 years later - conducting his own an alternate ending for Puccini's unfinished masterpiece, one of two new works to be premiered on March 25th at Coppola Conducts: 100 Years Young. This concert will be presented by Opera Tampa, the company for which Coppola was the founding Artistic Director.
