Stages Theatre Company (STC) presents Magic Tree House: A Night in New Orleans, directed by Jamil Jude.

His day job is as associate justice of the Second District, Division Six of the California Courts of Appeal, but Steve Perren's passion for the stage has seen him appear in a variety of shows in Ventura County over the years. He played founding father Roger Sherman in Cabrillo Music Theatre's 2012 production of 1776 and has also appeared in numerous operettas staged by the Ventura County Gilbert and Sullivan Repertoire Company. In Panic! Productions' Parade, currently playing at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, Perren is ideally suited for the part of Judge Leonard S. Roan, who presides over the trial of accused child murderer Leo Frank. Parade deals with the real-life arrest and trial of Frank (played by Joshua Finkel), a Georgia factory superintendent who was accused of murdering 13-year-old factory worker Mary Phagan in 1913. We sat down with Steve during a break in rehearsals for the show, and talked about his unique perspective as an actor who also shares the occupation of the character he portrays.

The international smash hit musical, BILLY ELLIOT! Show opens September 23 and runs through October 16 at Diamond Head Theatre. Shows are Thursdays - Sundays. KVPAC's Encore Players kicks off their fall 2016 Season with George Reinblatt's Evil Dead, The Musical, a Candian rock musical stage play based on the cult classic film series. Critics have praised the show calling it 'the next Rocky Horror Show'. Directed by Jason Howard, the show opens September 30 and runs through October 1 and 2, 2016. 

Tickets are now on sale for American Composers Orchestra's (ACO) 40th Anniversary Season, under the leadership of Artistic Director Derek Bermel and Music Director George Manahan. This season includes eight world premieres by a diverse set of composers performed by ACO at Carnegie Hall and Symphony Space, and continues the orchestra's commitment to serve as a catalyst for the creation of new orchestral music, providing unprecedented opportunities for American composers to create new work and for audiences to discover it. Founded in 1977, ACO remains the only orchestra in the world dedicated exclusively to the creation, performance, preservation, and promulgation of music by American composers. To date, ACO has performed music by 800 American composers, including 350 world premieres and newly commissioned works. ACO takes its commitment to fostering new work beyond the stage in its annual Underwood New Music Readings for emerging composers, now in its 26th year in New York, and through its program EarShot, the National Orchestra Composition Discovery Network, which brings the Readings experience to orchestras across the country in partnership with American Composers Forum, the League of American Orchestras, and New Music USA.

Easter Rising: Voice of a Rebel, a BBC Learning virtual reality (VR) experience, is available for the public in a free installation at the National Theatre's Lyttelton Lounge from today. Available until Saturday 22 October, the experience - jointly created by BBC Learning, Crossover Labs and VRTOV, two pioneering companies in the field of VR - is watched using an Oculus Rift headset.

Psmith - one of the most popular characters created by British humorist P.G. Wodehouse - will come to life on the City Lit stage this fall in an original stage adaptation by Artistic Director Terry McCabe, who will also stage the comedy. Richard Eisloeffel will star as Psmith. Also in the cast are T. J. Anderson, John Blick, Nicholas Roy Caesar, Joe Ciresi, Patrick Delaney, George Ellison, Jay Hobson, Robert Kaercher, Charles Schoenherr and Lee Wichman, McCabe, who will direct the production, announced casting today.

City Lit Theater's 37th season will honor its traditions while bringing Chicago audiences four plays that will be new to nearly all audience members. Berkshire Theatre Group (BTG) has just announced its sold-out production of Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick's Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical Fiorello! will transfer to Off-Broadway's East 13th Street Theater (136 East 13th Street, between 3rd and 4th Avenues), home of Classic Stage Company.

Following the critically acclaimed "reaccession" of pioneering modernist choreographer Ted Shawn at The Museum of Modern Art, and recent performances at Tate Modern Museum as part of "20 Dancers of the 20th Century", Adam H Weinert returns with MONUMENT, an imaginative and dynamic new dance piece exploring legacy and identity. While others seek to turn museums into theatrical spaces, Weinert transforms the proscenium stage into an archive with stunning scenic design by Paul Tate dePoo III and lighting by JAX Messenger . The program includes historic choreography by Ted Shawn, Doris Humphrey and Jose Limon dating back to the early 20th century as well as creative re-imaginings of these events by Weinert and others - effectively transfiguring the site into a living archive, investigating ideas of mediation, memory and space.

On February 12, 1915, the Abrons Arts Center's Henry Street Settlement Playhouse opened its doors on the Lower East Side. He has created an arts venue that is unique to the city's cultural landscape, presenting an international mix of cutting-edge performing and visual artists, both established and emerging, from across the country and around the world, as well as from New York City. In a 2015 New York Times profile, Wegman says Abrons is "a place for people to succeed or fail or land somewhere in between."

The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) today announced the date, creative team, host and venue for the 37th Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards, the awards show and party that celebrates extraordinary Toronto talent in the performing arts. Dora Awards Producer Jacoba Knaapen announced that the much-anticipated event will take place on Monday, June 27 and that it will, for the third time in a row, be held under the stars at Harbourfront Centre. Tickets go on sale May 31.
