Folger Theatre's 2016/17 season kicks off with an inspired stage adaptation of one of literature's most cherished novels, Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen.

Classical Theatre Company will expand its Shakespeare Outreach Program in the Fall of 2016 by establishing a Junior Shakespeare Acting Company.

The Public Theater will kick off the 2016-17 season in September with a free Public Works musical adaptation of TWELFTH NIGHT, conceived by Kwame Kwei-Armah and Shaina Taub, with music and lyrics by Shaina Taub. Directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah, TWELFTH NIGHT will once again feature over 200 actors and community members alongside five equity actors, including this year Nikki M. James as Viola and Jose Llana as Orsino.

Full casting and the creative team are announced today for the UK premiere of punkplay at Southwark Playhouse.

The Old Globe presents the world premiere of Steve Martin's new play METEOR SHOWER, an adult comedy, marking his welcome return to the Globe following the great success of Bright Star. It will be directed by Gordon Edelstein in a co-production with Long Wharf Theatre, where Edelstein serves as Artistic Director (and no, he is not related to Barry).

Rubicon Theatre Company presents Moonlight and Magnolias, the hilarious fly on the wall comedy by Ron Hutchinson about how the most iconic film in Hollywood history almost didn't get made. Directed by Stephanie A. Coltrin, this production features the same principal cast members from her critically acclaimed staging of Moonlight and Magnolias at Hermosa Beach Playhouse in 2010. Just in time for the 80th anniversary of Margaret Mitchell's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, 'Gone With the Wind,' Rubicon brings this wildly funny, behind-the-scenes farce to Ventura on Saturday, September 3 at 7:00 p.m. with an after party to follow atThe Greek Mediterranean Steak & Seafood. Previews are August 31, Sept. 1 and 2. The show runs through September 18.

Sister Play, the third production in Chester Theatre Company's 2016 season, will have its regional premiere on Wednesday, August 3 at 8:00 p.m. in the Chester Town Hall at 15 Middlefield Road, Chester, MA.

For more than 40 years, the school has delivered the Houston Shakespeare Festival (HSF) to eager audiences. This year's event will continue this tradition with free performances of 'Much Ado About Nothing' directed by Jack Young and 'Henry V' directed by Lenny Banovez. Performances run July 29 through Aug. 7 at Hermann Park's Miller Outdoor Theatre (6000 Hermann Park Dr.). All performances begin at 8:15 p.m.

"Bloodshot" makes its U.S. debut at the Greenhouse Theater Center (2257 N. Lincoln Ave.) Aug. 10 - Sept. 10 as part of Greenhouse's "Solo Celebration!" series. Starring acclaimed international actor, the multi-talented Simon Slater, written by award winning Chicago playwright Douglas Post and directed byPatrick Sandford, "Bloodshot," is a one-man murder mystery following the character Derek Eveleigh, a photographer in 1957 London. The thriller is co-produced by Ingenious Purpose Ltd.

Today, Curve Artistic Director, Nikolai Foster, announces the cast for his production of THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST. The play, which originated at the Roundabout Theatre Company last year, earned six Tony nominations, including nods for the duo (Best Performance by an Actor/Actress in a Featured Role in a Play). Previews are underway for Theatre for a New Audience's production of August Strindberg's THE FATHER in a new version by Scottish author David Greig commissioned by Theatre for a New Audience and performances start tonight, May 10, at 7:30pm for A DOLL'S HOUSE in an adaptation by Thornton Wilder not seen in New York since its Broadway premiere in 1937.
