BWW Interviews: Northwest High School Welcomes New Drama Teacher

The Public Theater recently announced that Louis Cancelmi, last seen as Caliban in the Shakespeare in the Park production of The Tempest, had stepped into the company of Troilus and Cressida as Achilles, replacing David Harbour, who suffered an injury during previews and will be unable to complete the run. The play celebrates its opening tonight, August 9, after a short delay.

California Shakespeare Theater's 25th anniversary season at the Bruns Amphitheater continues with August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winning story of the American Dream deferred, Fences, directed by Raelle Myrick-Hodges in her Cal Shakes debut. Fences, which plays from July 6 through July 31, marks the first time Cal Shakes has presented August Wilson's work on its stage. The George Eastman Museum will honor actor Michael Keaton with the George Eastman Award, the museum's highest honor in motion pictures, on Thursday, June 9.

Fallen Angel Theatre Company (Aedin Moloney, Producing Artistic Director) today announced their next production: the Off-Broadway Premiere of Sharman Macdonald's When I Was A Girl I Used To Scream and Shout, a bittersweet and bitingly funny examination of mother/daughter turmoil. Performances will begin April 14th and continues through May 8th at Theatre Row's Clurman Theatre. 

Theater for the New City presents Steve Romagnoli's 'SKIP TO MY LOU,' Written by Steve Romagnoli and directed by S. C. Lucier.

A new production of Alan Bennett's hit comedy comes to Birmingham Repertory Theatre next month. Following the success of The King's Speech, Birmingham Repertory Theatre and Chichester Festival Theatre collaborate once again on this award-winning comedy masterpiece, Single Spies.

Elaine Cassidy will be taking on the role of Madame de Tourvel in the Donmar's production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses, replacing Michelle Dockery who regrettably has had to withdraw from the production prior to the start of rehearsals.

Continuing its commitment to bringing free Shakespeare to the community and strengthening audience engagement with the arts, The Public Theater mounts its MOBILE SHAKESPEARE UNIT again this month with a free three-week tour to the five boroughs of Shakespeare's THE COMEDY OF ERRORS, directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah. The free Mobile Unit tour (today, October 9, through October 29) will bring free Shakespeare to audiences who have limited or no access to the arts by visiting correctional facilities, homeless shelters, social service organizations, and other community venues, including stops at our Public Works community partner venues: Brownsville Recreation Center in Brooklyn and DreamYard Project in the Bronx.

In addition to the previously announced Michelle Dockery, Janet McTeer and Dominic West, the production will feature Adjoa Andoh, Theo Barklem-Biggs, Morfydd Clark, Edward Holcroft, Jennifer Saayeng and Una Stubbs.

The Public Theater announced today that it will continue its commitment to bringing free Shakespeare to the community and strengthening audience engagement with the arts by expanding its MOBILE SHAKESPEARE UNIT to include a spring touring production of MACBETH to the five boroughs. Directed by Edward Torres, the free Mobile Unit tour (April 24 - May 14) will bring free Shakespeare to audiences who have limited or no access to the arts by visiting prisons, homeless shelters, and other community venues, including stops at our Public Works community partner venues: Brownsville Recreation Center in Brooklyn, Fortune Society in Queens and DreamYard Project in the Bronx. Following the three-week tour, MACBETH will have a limited sit-down run at The Public Theater from May 17 through June 7, with an official press opening on Wednesday, May 20. The Mobile Shakespeare Unit toured Pericles last fall.

The Public Theater announced additional casting today for the 2015 Free Shakespeare in the Park season, beginning Wednesday, May 27 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. This summer will feature Shakespeare's late romances with THE TEMPEST, directed by Tony Award nominee Michael Greif, and CYMBELINE, directed by Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan. Jesse Tyler Ferguson will return to the Park this summer as Trinculo in THE TEMPEST, along with Hamish Linklater and Lily Rabe teaming up again with Daniel Sullivan on CYMBELINE to play Posthumus Leonatus/Cloten and Imogen, respectively.

Profiles Theatre continues its 26th Season with the Chicago premiere of The Other Place by Sharr White, directed by Artistic Director Joe Jahraus. The production runs tonight, February 13 - April 5, 2015 at Profiles Theatre's The Main Stage, 4139 N. Broadway. The press opening is Thursday, February 19 at 8pm.
