Tomorrow, May 15, GHOSTLIGHT RECORDS will release Rags - The Musical: Original London Cast Recording in digital and streaming formats. A physical CD will be available later this year. The new album - based on the revised London production that played to sold out houses earlier this year - is the first recording of this new version of the ravishing score. Customers who pre-order the digital album will immediately receive a download of the first single, 'Children of the Wind.'

Opening February 7, 2020, the exhibition will feature six contemporary artists who address the fleeting nature of existence through performance, installation, film, sculpture, and photography.

The Old Globe today announced the cast and creative team of a sparkling comedy in our summer season, The Underpants, by the Globe's second-most-popular playwright-in-residence, Steve Martin. Directed by multiple-award winner Walter Bobbie (Globe and Broadway's Bright Star, Broadway's Venus in Fur, Chicago) and adapted from Die Hose by Carl Sternheim, the play was originally commissioned by Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director Barry Edelstein when he ran New York's Classic Stage Company. This is the fourth Martin work in recent seasons at the Globe, from 2014's world premiere musical Bright Star, which went on to Broadway and five Tony Award nominations, to 2016's twice-extended, world-premiere comedy Meteor Shower, to 2017's smash-hit revival of Picasso at the Lapin Agile.

Ridgefield to Screen the Met's LA FANCIULLA DEL WEST

The Metropolitan Opera's production of Puccini's La Fanciulla del West comes to the big screen in HD at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Sunday, October 28 at 12pm (an encore presentation). Soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek sings Puccini's gun-slinging heroine in this romantic epic of the Wild West and tenor Jonas Kaufmann plays the outlaw she loves. Baritone Željko Lucic is the vigilante sheriff, Jack Rance, and Marco Armiliato conducts. This screening is part of the Atria Senior Living Classical Series with support from The Ridgefield Press and Whistle Stop Bakery, underwritten by Lori & John Berisford, Jeanne Cook, Liz & Steven Goldstone and Sabina & Walter Slavin.

Mita Nag, Hassan Haider & Subhen Chatterjee Bring Indian Music To Brooklyn

This special concert brings together three outstanding performers of Indian music and provides an opportunity to hear the shehnai (oboe), an instrument rarely heard in the Indian classical repertoire today. Featured are Mita Nag, a master of improvisation, who comes from a famous family of musicians, including her father, veteran sitarist Manilal Nag, and grandfather, master musician Gokul Nag; the brilliant shehnai player Hassan Haider, son and disciple of the famed maestro Ali Ahmed Hussain, who has performed and toured internationally with his father and other notable artists; and Subhen Chatterjee, a powerful tabla player and disciple of Swapan Chaudhuri, who has appeared with many of India's major artists.
