The best of Broadway is being presented free on six consecutive Thursdays this summer with '106.7 Lite fm Presents Broadway in Bryant Park 2010' - a lunchtime series which began on Thursday, July 8th at 12:30pm on the Bryant Park Stage. Sponsored by Bank of America, and JCPenney 33rd & 6th, and hosted by Lite fm's on-air personalities, the tenth annual presentation of open-air, On- and Off- Broadway lunch hour performances runs through August 12th.

Memphis star Montego Glover performed for the Obamas at The Ford's Theatre's annual gala on June 6th. Singing 'Colored Woman' Glover wowed the crowd. The show was telecast on July 2nd.

Both titles are due off press for the Summer NAMM convention, held June 18-20 in Nashville.

Last night, Memphis took away the 2010 Tony for Best Musical. The show also won honors for Best Book Of a Musical, and Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theatre.
Today, BroadwayWorld.com checked with the show's representatives, who tell us that the show has already seen box office sales that are four times higher than on a normal Sunday/Monday. That good news is sure to have producers 'Hockadoo-ing'!

Last night, on June 13, the 2010 Tony Awards honored the best of Broadway in the 2009-2010 season. MEMPHIS was the big winner of the night in the musical category, earning honors for Best Musical, Best Book, Best Score, and Best Orchestrations. BroadwayWorld was on hand at the show's post-Tony celebration at the Empire Hotel.

Amid an electrifying evening of dance by the greatest talents of Broadway and film, the 2010 Fred & Adele Astaire Award winners were announced at the 28th annual awards ceremony at the Gerald W. Lynch at John Jay College. The Douglas Watt Lifetime Achievement Award named for the late esteemed critic and co-founder of the Awards was presented to the legendary director and choreographer Kenny Ortega by Grammy winner Roberta Flack. Host for the evening was Ben Vereen.
