For about 6 years, RENT was the show I just didn't want to see. While all my friends were head over heels for this brand new musical, I just couldn't get excited about it. I was very in to the traditional back then and RENT was anything but traditional. However, in 2002 my best friend turned 21 and all she wanted was to see RENT on Broadway. And when that happens, you just suck it up and go.

'Lynn' Singleton, President of the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) and the producers of the RENT 20th Anniversary Tour have announced that an additional performance of RENT has been added, on Sunday, April 9 at 6:30 p.m. The RENT 20th Anniversary Tour will be at PPAC April 7 - 9, 2017, with performances on Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 2 & 8 p.m., and Sunday at 1 & 6:30 p.m.

The Minnesota Orchestra announces plans today for Sommerfest 2017, unveiling a celebratory summer festival in which the Orchestra salutes two of its artistic leaders: Doc Severinsen on his 90th birthday, and Sommerfest Artistic Director Andrew Litton, who has announced that this summer will mark his final season as the head of the festival. Running from July 3 to August 5, Minnesota Orchestra's summer season includes two tribute concerts to Pops Conductor Laureate Severinsen; performances by Litton and his friends André Watts, William Wolfram and New York City Ballet dancers; and culminates with the opera Litton has long wanted to conduct in Minnesota, Strauss' Salome. The summer season also involves the annual Symphony for the Cities concerts, two previously announced regular season programs and the return of the Minnesota Orchestra Fantasy Camp.

The Hawai'i Symphony Orchestra (HSO) will welcome acclaimed violinist and conductor Joseph Swensen on February 18 and 19 in a dazzling program featuring masterworks by Schubert and Mozart.
