The Tony Award®-winning Signature Theatre, nationally known for its interpretation of Stephen Sondheim musicals, celebrated its 20th anniversary season by presenting Sondheim's most popular musical SWEENEY TODD, directed by Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer. The production will end its run in the 276-seat MAX Theater, April 4, 2010.

Alexandre Gallery will welcome Lois Dodd: SECOND STREET PAINTINGS from April 1st through May 1st, 2010, and Joseph Fiore: WORKS ON PAPER from April 1st through May 1st, 2010.

For over fifty years Lois Dodd has maintained a loft studio on Second Street near the Bowery. In the late 1960s she turned her eyes out a West window, over a nineteenth century cemetery to the buildings and skyline beyond, and began to paint the view. 'Second Street Paintings' will present this series of ten paintings from 1967 - 1970 that range in size from 8 x 10 to 45 x 30 inches. Also included will be three recent paintings depicting the same view from 2006 -2009.

On Tuesday, February 3rd, beloved star of stage and screen Nathan Lane, celebrated his birthday at The Cafe Carlyle in Manhattan by taking in a performance of Christine Ebersole's acclaimed cabaret concert. Ms. Ebersole sang 'Happy Birthday' to Mr. Lane in the style of Marilyn Monroe. Commissioned by SCR, You, Nero imagines a meeting during the declining years of the Roman Empire between Scribonius, a put-upon playwright, and Emperor Nero, the all-powerful, narcissistic arbiter of art. The Roman romp stars Danny Scheie as Nero and John Vickery as Scribonius. Produced in association with Berkeley Repertory Theatre and directed by Sharon Ott,You, Nero will run from Jan. 4 through Jan. 25, 2009 on the Julianne Argyros Stage. Low-priced previews are available from Jan. 4 through Jan. 8. Opening night is Jan. 9.
