San Francisco's cutting-edge Cutting Ball Theater opens its 12th season with French symbolist Maurice Maeterlinck's PELLEAS & MELISANDE, in a new translation by Cutting Ball Artistic Director Rob Melrose. Directed by Melrose, with a musical score by composer Cliff Caruthers, video installation by Wesley Cabral, and choreography by Laura Arrington, PELLEAS & MELISANDE features Joshua Schell, Catilyn Louchard, Derek Fischer, Paul Gerrior, and Gwyneth Richards, along with Bennett Fisher, Jessica Rudholm, Carla Pauli, and Brittany Kilcoyne McGregor. The new Broadway production of George Bernard Shaw's play Mrs. Warren's Profession will star Tony Award winner Cherry Jones as 'Kitty Warren' & Golden Globe winner Sally Hawkins making her Broadway debut as 'Vivie Warren.' The production will be directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway (227 West 42nd St). The cast will also feature Adam Driver as 'Frank Gardner', Mark Harelik as 'Sir George Crofts', Edward Hibbert as 'Mr. Praed' & Michael Siberry as 'Reverend Samuel Gardner'.

NEW YORK: The Village Light Opera Group (VLOG), one of the country's premiere theatre companies specializing in both operettas and Broadway musicals, will present FIDDLER ON THE ROOF at the Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts on May 8, 9, 14, 15 and 16 in a new production directed by Tony Spinosa, who is also recreating the original Jerome Robbins choreography.

Following Theatre for Young America's 2pm performance of The Monarchs of KC on May 15, 2010, author Phil S. Dixon will be available at 3pm to sign copies of his new book about Buck O'Neil entitled, John 'Buck' O'Neil, The Rookie, The Man, The Legacy, 1938. The book signing will take place in the lobby of the H&R Block City Stage located on level B in Union Station at 30 W. Pershing Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64108. The Amore Opera Company will continue its season with a fully staged production of Lehar's romantic operetta, 'The Merry Widow.' Amore Opera will also be delivering performances for kids and the whole family, entitled 'Opera-in-Brief' of Gilbert and Sullivan's comic opera, 'The Mikado.'
