IFC Center today announced an impressive and wide-ranging lineup for the third annual Split Screens Festival (www.splitscreensfestival.com) taking place Wednesday, May 29 through Monday, June 3, 2019, at the IFC Center in New York City. The festival consists of special events offering a variety of looks at history, identity and the mystery of existence itself, including panels on series that explore dystopian realities and alternate timelines, and screenings that transport us into any number of time periods and places, be it a late-1800s South Dakota town or the height of 1980s ballroom culture in New York City.

Everything is bigger in Texas, including Sheriff J.B. Smith's personality. A veteran detective of Smith County, Texas, he knows what it's like to encounter larger-than-life crimes, and he knows he needs the best of the best at his side to solve them. Smith and his handpicked team of detectives, Pamela Dunklin and Joe Rasco, are here to show that when it comes to Smith County, Texas, if you're going to do the crime, you will do the time. Each member of this crime-fighting trio has skills designed to perfectly complement each other: Dunklin leads with her intuition and is not afraid to get down deep into the details; Rasco is the thinker and the feeler of the group, using his analytical mind and empathy to get the core of the crime; and, with Sheriff J.B. Smith as the fearless leader of the unit, Dunklin and Rasco are empowered to tap into the skillsets that put them on the force. In the all-new series LONE STAR JUSTICE, this group recounts their most memorable cases, proving once and for all that in the state of Texas, no one is above the law of the land. LONE STAR JUSTICE premieres on June 5th at 10/9ct, only on Investigation Discovery (ID), America's leading destination for true-crime programming.

In an uplifting tale of finding a voice, this new production follows the real-life story of Musharaf Asghar, who won the heart of the nation when he overcame his debilitating stammer in the Channel 4 documentary Educating Yorkshire. Mushy: Lyrically Speaking recounts the story known and loved by the public of a young man overcoming the odds with the help of an inspirational teacher, then asks what happened next as the teen was hit by the highs and lows of overnight fame. With music playing a crucial role in helping Mushy to find his voice, the show will use rap and lyrical narration written by rapper Raxstar, and the book has been written by Rifco Theatre Company's Artistic Director Pravesh Kumar. Mushy: Lyrically Speaking is a Rifco Studio production presented by Rifco Theatre Company and Watford Palace Theatre.

Baruch Performing Arts Center, along with New York-based theater company Blessed Unrest and Teatri ODA of Kosovo, will co-present the World Premiere of Refuge from April 25 - May 11 @ 7:30, with a variable weekly schedule and a 5pm performance Sun May 5 (Opening Night April 27) at Baruch Performing Arts Center, 55 Lexington Avenue (25 Street between Third and Lexington Avenues), NYC. 

Influential NYC indie greats Versus have shared 'Bow And Arrow,' the second single from the Ex Nihilo EP, their first new music in nine years -- listen HERE. The EP will see a release on May 3, 2019 via Ernest Jenning Record Co., with a full-length to follow later this year. The Fontaine Toups-led 'Bow And Arrow' premiered via Under The Radar, who called it 'a power-pop anthem dedicated to all the girls growing up in our era.' This premiere follows the EP's first single, 'Invisible Love,' about which BrooklynVegan said 'They've lost none of their ability for making memorable, hook-laden indie rock.' The band will also be performing as direct support for Ex Hexat Brooklyn, NY's Elsewhere on May 9.

Lauded jazz vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater, accompanied by THE MEMPHIS SOULPHONY, will be bringing her latest show MEMPHIS: YES, I'M READY, based on her latest musical release Memphis: Yes, I'm Ready to The Wallis for one night only March 23, 2019. The most warm and delightful Ms. Bridgewater managed to entertain and enlightened me on the phone for an informative, heartfelt forty-five minutes.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full cast and creative team for Paradise Square: An American Musical. The world premiere is helmed by acclaimed director Moises Kaufman, with choreography by the legendary Bill T. Jones and a book by Marcus Gardley, Craig Lucas, and Larry Kirwan. Music by Jason Howland and Larry Kirwan, with lyrics by Nathan Tysen, and based on the songs of Stephen Foster. Paradise Square is produced by special arrangement with Garth H. Drabinsky in association with Peter LeDonne and Teatro Proscenium Limited Partnership.

On September 28, Reprise Records will release An American Treasure—a career-spanning Tom Petty box set.
