The nonprofit Sundance Institute announced today the showcase of new independent feature films selected across all categories for the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. The Festival hosts screenings in Park City, Salt Lake City and at Sundance Mountain Resort, from January 24 - February 3, 2019.

Hartford Opera Theater will offer New in November 9, a collection of short operas and opera excerpts. This opera festival will play Sunday, November 18 (7pm) at The Cathedral House at Christ Church Cathedral, 45 Church Street, Hartford, CT. Tickets are available now at https:// www.hartfordoperatheater.com as well as at the door; $10 students and seniors and $20 general admission.

A show representative tells us that the tour will be postponed until 2019. 'The tour will now launch in 2019 with stops in St. Paul, Dallas, and Washington D.C. ahead of the previously announced run at New York City Center which will begin performances, as previously announced, on Tuesday, July 30,' says a rep. 'The production is working with everyone involved to reschedule and news about the North American tour will be announced soon.'

Just days after announcing a run of Bat Out of Hell - The Musical in New York City at City Center, which would come on the heels of its national tour, BWW has learned that the tour has been canceled. 

Ensemble Theatre will stage a play reading of THE FEVER AND THE FRET, the incredibly moving story from Nyul Nyul/Yawuru award-winning playwright, actor and television director Jub Clerc. THE FEVER AND THE FRET is Jub Clerc's first play.

Target Margin Theater (Founding Artistic Director David Herskovits, Associate Artistic Director Moe Yousuf) is proud to present a remount of its acclaimed production, Pay No Attention to the Girl, for a limited three week run (October 25-November 11). Days away from the release of her triumphant third full-length album On Dark Horses, Emma Ruth Rundle has unveiled a darkly romantic music video for “Light Song.” No stranger to mining her life for inspiration, this new track and its accompanying video celebrate a completely new chapter for the songwriter; after sparks turned to an undeniable infatuation between her and Evan Patterson of Jaye Jayle (resulting in their 2017 Johnny & June-esque split EP The Time Between Us), Rundle uprooted her life on the west coast in favor of Patterson's hometown of Louisville. That sense of settling, of roots digging into new soil and heartbeats steadying into a daily rhythm, is what propels the record. Strapped with equestrian themes and Patterson on backing vocals, Rundle's new environment is as much of a character throughout the album as she herself.  With Rundle's breathy but brooding vocals coupling with Patterson's smoky baritone, “Light Song” flaunts their artistic duality and flair for aural drama, a powerhouse partnership that is only amplified by stalwart backing rhythms.

Now in its tenth consecutive year, the multi-award-winning Finborough Theatre presents Vibrant 2018 - A Festival of Finborough Playwrights, its annual explosion of new writing, running between 7-25 October 2018.

Created as a collaboration between choreographer Ben Wright and musician/writer Stuart Warwick, Point of Echoes is a haunting tale of love, death and monsters, set on a lighthouse somewhere off the coast of England. Due to high ticket demand, additional dates, August 30 - September 9, 2018, have been added. 20,000 Leagues Under the Seas plays at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Ave. at Pearson. This marks the second and final extension of the production.

Sundance Institute and Skywalker Sound today announced the composers and directors selected for the Sundance Institute Film Music and Sound Design Lab, which returns to the legendary Skywalker Sound Facilities for the sixth year. More than half of the composers selected for this year's Lab are female. 

After a successful run in Central Park, playing to over 4,000 people, performances resume on Wednesday, June 27 in Rockefeller Park/Battery Park City for New York Classical Theatre's critically acclaimed production of Romeo and Juliet, directed by the company's Founding Artistic Director Stephen Burdman. The production will play this week through June 30, before continuing on to The Battery, Carl Schurz Park, and Brooklyn Bridge Park for performances through July 29. There is no ticketing, and all performances are free and open to the public. Performance schedule can be found at newyorkclassical.org.
