The Chicago Sinfonietta Debuts Season with eMotion, 9/14

The Chicago Sinfonietta opens its 2013-14 season with "eMotion," a concert continuing Music DirectorMei-Ann Chen's award-winning experimental programming style, moving toward the creation of a new breed of collaborative performance experiences. The "eMotion" concert features music inspired by dance, including a World Premiere arrangement commissioned by the Sinfonietta. The Sinfonietta performs "eMotion" twice, once in its downtown Chicago home venue of Symphony Center, 220 S. Michigan Avenue, Saturday, September 14 at 8 pm and again in the western suburbs at Wentz Concert Hall of North Central College, 171 E. Chicago Avenue, Naperville, Sunday, September 15 at 4 pm.

Tickets on Sale Today for Northrop Theatre's 2013-14 Dance Season

Northrop at the University of Minnesota announces single tickets go on-sale today, August 5 for its 2013-14 Northrop Season, which features world-class dance, including copresentations with The O'Shaughnessy at St. Catherine University's Women of Substance and Walker Art Center. Single tickets will be sold through each venue. Series packages continue to be on sale through Northrop.

The Joyce Theater will welcome Khmer Arts Ensemble, under the artistic leadership of the acclaimed choreographer and dancer Sophiline Cheam Shapiro, back onto its stage for one week this spring - from April 9-14 - presenting the New York premiere of A Bend in the River, a contemporary fable. In this adaptation of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale 'The Girl Without Hands,' narrated by Satan himself, a father accidentally sells his daughter to the Devil. When our heroine cleverly escapes, a lyrical love story laced with devilish humor unfolds. The production features a bluegrass score by longtime Kneehigh composer Stu Barker, performed by live musicians and the cast.
