The Kennedy Center hosts its 15th annual Page-to-Stage New Play Festival from Saturday, September 3 to Monday, September 5, 2016, featuring more than 50 theaters from the D.C. metropolitan area, all with a mission to produce and support new work.

Directed by Daniel Sullivan, Troilus and Cressida had its official opening on August 9, 2016. This is the second of three productions in the 2016 Shakespeare in the Park season, which is produced by The Public Theater.

The Department of Theater and Dance at UC Santa Barbara is pleased to announce another exciting year of new work from our talented faculty, students, and guest artists. For their inaugural offering, Great Circle Productions will present the world premiere of EDWIN, The Story of Edwin Booth, a dramatic musical that commemorates the 150th Anniversary (1866-2016) of the legendary actor's return to the stage, as well as the 400th Anniversary of the birth of William Shakespeare, with music by Marianna Rosett, and book & lyrics by Eric Swanson.

Instead of the usual gala fare -- bits of firecracker variations and pieces of ballet classics -- Sergei Danilian's 'Ardani 25 Dance Gala' at New York City Center, August 19 and 20, is classic Danilian. The intrepid impresario, who has never side-stepped risk, will celebrate Ardani Artists's quarter century of producing in the United States and abroad with a trio of U.S. premieres, two by young, unknown, but up-and-coming Russian choreographers, and one by American Ballet Theatre principal Marcelo Gomes.

Greece's most prominent film director of the post-1968 era, Theo Angelopoulos (1935–2012) was a master cinema stylist. His investigations into history and politics, tyranny and resistance, and spiritual anomie and emotional devastation place him on equal footing with filmmakers like Andrei Tarkovsky, Bernardo Bertolucci, and Wim Wenders. Today, at a time when Greece has struggled with impending economic collapse, and as the country's refugee crisis has worsened, with displaced populations fleeing war in the Middle East and massing on its borders, the themes of Angelopoulos's cinema are pressing once again. Museum of the Moving Image will present Eternity and History: The Cinema of Theo Angelopoulos, a complete retrospective of the director's career—the first in the United States in 25 years—from July 8 through 24, 2016. The retrospective will also be presented at the Harvard Film Archive in Cambridge, Massachusetts, from July 15 through August 22. The presentation of the retrospective at Museum of the Moving Image was made possible with support from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and the Hellenic American Chamber of Commerce.

Segerstrom Center for the Arts begins its 30th Anniversary celebration with another one-night-only star-studded evening of dance: Tour de Force III. The performance will be the first event to represent the array and diversity of the Center's artistic programming, in this case, 30 years of presenting the greatest ballet companies and the world's most celebrated dancers. Tour de Force III will be on Saturday, August 27 in Segerstrom Hall. Produced in collaboration with Ardani Artists, the program will include four Center premieres: Clay by Vladimir Varnava, Zeitgeist by Alastair Marriott, Tristesse by Marcelo Gomes and Le Divertissement du Roi by Maxim Petrov. The Public Theater announced complete casting today for TROILUS AND CRESSIDA, the second show of The Public's 2016 Free Shakespeare in the Park season.
