Verb Ballets, Northeast Ohio's premiere contemporary ballet company, celebrates the life and work of Ian Horvath (1943-1990) on February 9, 2019 in an evening titled Dance Legacy: Celebrating the Life of Ian Horvath. The three-part performance will honor Horvath's impact on dance in Cleveland and will recognize his work as an AIDS advocate. Tragically, he lost his battle to AIDS at the age of 46.

UCSB's Department of Theater and Dance presents our 2018 Fall Dance Concert, ORIGIN/EVOLUTION. The evening will present six pieces in total, Poetry of a Mute Soul, Coloratisse, Anemone, The Unsung, Re-lll, and Memory of Hope including choreography from Jose Limon, Shen Wei, Valerie Huston, Monique Meunier, Kelly O'Connor, Christopher Pilafian, and performances from Principle Dancers of the New York City Ballet, Maria Kowroski and Tyler Angle. Foregrounding faculty research, this evening of dance offers premieres of new works and reconstructions by new and established faculty members, a cherished member of the emeritus dance faculty, and a senior BFA capstone project. The very makeup of the concert's contributors, the range of works being presented, and the varied positions of its creative artist call up notions of artistic lineage and histories. Drawing forth from unique origins - how we came to dance - each of us evolves and grows, standing on the shoulder of those who came before. Our storied faculty members provide a bridge between the originators and the next generation of student-dancer artists.

Infinity's first formal New York concert program was presented at The Riverside Theatre in 1997, so Infinity is thrilled to return to Riverside in 2019 for a full concert engagement with Alison Cook Beatty Dance. New York Live Arts (Live Arts) to present the New York premiere of Netta Yerushalmy's Paramodernities, March 14-17, 2019, having commissioned the work as part of the Live Feed Residency Program. The complete six-part encyclopedic series is a multidisciplinary work that weaves theory and performance into a four-hour-long hybrid event. Yerushalmy and a cast of 20 dancers and scholars, ranging in age from 20 to 68, perform deconstructed installments of Nijinsky's “Sacre” (1913), Graham's “Night Journey” (1947), Ailey's “Revelations” (1960), a mix of Cunningham works “Rainforest,” “Sounddance”, “Points in Space”, “Beach Birds”,  and “Ocean” (1968-1990), dance numbers from the 1969 Fosse's film “Sweet Charity”, and a response to Balanchine's “Agon” (1957) that includes none of the original choreography.

This spring, American Repertory Ballet (ARB) will present Generations: Influences from theModern Age, a triple bill of critically acclaimed works by Jose Limon, Gerald Arpino and Artistic Director Douglas Martin, at three venues in New Jersey and New York City. The company, whose mission "is to bring the joy, beauty, artistry and discipline of classical and contemporary dance to New Jersey and nationwide audiences," launches its spring tour at Two River Theater in Red Bank, NJ, (21 Bridge Avenue), with two performances on Friday and Saturday, March 23 and 24.

The performance will honor Horvath's impact on dance and will recognize his work as an AIDS advocate. Horvath was best known in Cleveland as a founder of the Cleveland Ballet and a former soloist with the Joffrey Ballet and American Ballet Theatre. Later, he was the Producing Director of the Jose Limon Dance Foundation. Tragically, he lost his battle to AIDS at the age of 46.

A highlight of the Limon Dance Company's May 8-13 Joyce Theater season will be a revival of Jose Limon's 'MISSA BREVIS,' recognized as one of his masterpieces.  The work will be set by Kristen Foote, with additional coaching by Clay Taliaferro.   The program will also feature by 'The Unsung,' a Limon work with an all-male cast; a new dance for all women by artistic director Colin Connor; and three new duets by young dancemakers commissioned by the Company.

Velocity is thrilled to present Parts to a Sum (tentative title), Mark Haim's newest solo opus that premieres at Velocity April 5-13 in 2019. Haim has created work for some of the world's most celebrated dance companies including the companies of William Forsythe, Jose Limon and Nederlands Dance Theatre. Now in his late 50s, for Parts to a Sum Haim will connect 371 individuals across nearly 100 years and 20 countries. Specifically, Haim is gathering 371 "dance prayers" from people he has known through his exceptional international career, including friends, families, mentors, colleagues, students, and some of the most beloved dance artists from Seattle and around the globe. Performing this chain of movements from "oldest to youngest" (ages 93-2.5), Haim's performance ritual is a meditation on life and human interconnectedness.

10 Hairy Legs, the male repertory dance company, holds its 7th consecutive New York Season with a return to New York Live Arts June 27-29. Presented are World Premieres by Larry Keigwin and Adam Barruch. Barruch's work will have a newly composed score by Roarke Menzies. Larry Keigwin is a native New Yorker and choreographer who has danced his way from the Metropolitan Opera to Broadway and back. He founded KEIGWIN + COMPANY in 2003 and as artistic director, he has led the company as it has performed at The Kennedy Center, The Joyce Theater, The Guggenheim, and New York City Center, among many other venues. Adam Barruch currently creates and performs work under the epithet of his own company, Anatomiae Occultii. In addition, he has also created works for companies such as The Limón Company, Ailey II, Keigwin + Company, Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, River North Dance Chicago, BalletX, Whim W'Him Seattle Contemporary Dance, Graham II, GroundWorks Dance Theater, Gina Gibney Dance Company and Minnesota Dance Theatre, as well as for dance icons Margie Gillis and Miki Orihara.
