?Audiences from across Coventry enjoyed a trip back in time to the golden age of rock 'n' roll earlier this week for the official launch of the Belgrade Theatre's brand new production of Roll Over Beethoven, an original British rock 'n' roll musical arriving on the Main Stage from Sat 3 - Sat 17 September 2016.

Peter Reckell, the Emmy nominated actor best known for playing Bo Brady, a role he originated in 1981 on the NBC drama Days of Our Lives, will take on the role of the suave and charismatic El Gallo when he joins the cast of the long running musical THE FANTASTICKS in a limited engagement that begins on September 5th and runs through September 25th the show's producers, Al Parinello and Catherine Russell announced today. This isn't the first time the he's performed in the show. Mr. Reckell played the role of The Mute (and covered The Boy) 35 years ago, in the Sullivan Street Production.

The Riant Theatre (Van Dirk Fisher, Artistic Director), a nonprofit theatre supporting playwrights and theatremakers of diverse cultural backgrounds, is holding the Launch Party for its annual Strawberry One-Act and Theatre Festival on Saturday, June 25, 2016, 3pm at the Poet's Den Theatre (309 East 108th Street, NYC). The evening will include the presentation of 2016 Pioneer of the Arts Award For Outstanding Achievement In Television and Theatre to the Emmy-winning stage, film and TV actor Joe Morton, Tony Nominee and eight time AUDELCO Award winner, Andre De Shields, the acclaimed Broadway and television actress Barbara Montgomery, and multiple Grammy Award winner, Broadway musical director and arranger Chapman Roberts. American Theater Company (ATC) opens musical comedy Xanadu, the final production of its Legacy Season, this Sunday, June 5. Presented as a tribute to ATC's late Artistic Director PJ Paparelli-a not-so-secret fan of this camp classic-Xanadu is directed by Lili-Anne Brown and runs at ATC now through July 17, 2016. The production has music and lyrics by Jeff Lynne and John Farrar and a book by Douglas Carter Beane, based on the 1980 Universal Pictures film of the same title.

The New Stew is a 'super group' of a handful of fine musicians from all genres of music that features Corey Glover (Living Colour, Galactic) on vocals, Roosevelt Collier (The Lee Boys) on Lap Steel/ Pedal Steel, Yonrico Scott (Derek Trucks Band, Royal Southern Brotherhood) on percussion, Dave Yoke (Susan Tedeschi Band, Dr. John, Scrapomatic) on guitar, Jared Stone (Stone's Stew) on drums, and Matt Slocum (Oteil and the Peacemakers, Col. Bruce Hampton & Aquarium Rescue Unit, The Lee Boys) on piano.

Refuge Theatre Project's second season will open on January 29, 2016 with High Fidelity - the musical based on Nick Hornby's 1995 novel and on Stephen Frears' 2000 feature-film adaptation that starred Chicago natives John Cusack, Joan Cusack and Lili Taylor.

Elaine Paige is heading back to the New York stage later this month in PIAF: A CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION, and she's opening up with Out's Michael Musto about her career. The West End, who originated roles in Evita, Cats, and more, legend told Musto: 'The more years pass, I look back and think, "Who was that girl?" It seems a lifetime ago. I consider myself very lucky to have been part of the new musicals coming out of England. It was the renaissance of British musicals, so I feel very fortunate [to be involved] at the time Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice were writing those shows. Yes, I am proud.'

Broadway Records today announced the release of The Raven (from 'Nevermore') [Remix] - EP, an extended play recording containing three versions of the song 'The Raven' from the gothic opera Nevermore - The Imaginary Life and Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe, written and composed by Jonathan Christenson: a Single Version of the song as performed on the Original Off-Broadway Cast Recording of Nevermore, a Club Remix version, and a Radio Remix version. Both remixes were created by DJ and music producer Julian Marsh.

Before iTunes and Spotify came along, I used to collect every original cast CD of any Broadway or West End musical that I could lay my hands on, including foreign language cast recordings. By far, my largest collection of non-English cast CDs consists of Japanese cast recordings, many of which were released by Gekidan Shiki (Shiki Theatre Company). Over the last five decades, Shiki has mounted Japanese-language productions of Applause (1972), Jesus Christ Superstar (1973), West Side Story (1974), A Chorus Line (1979), Evita (1982), Cats (1983), The Phantom of the Opera (1988), Crazy For You (1993), Beauty and the Beast (1995), The Lion King (1998), Aspects of Love (1999), Mamma Mia! Not your (Fairy God) mother's awards - 'The Tiaras' (#TheTiaras) are granted to the most enchanting ingenues, spellbinding performers, wicked scoundrels and perfect Prince Charmings of the Great White Way.

Music Director Aaron Benham (recently honored with three Jeff nominations for the 2014-15 season, including one for last summer's A Musical Tribute to the Andrews Sisters by Theo) is providing new arrangements for a program representing the full body of Hamlisch's work. Benham and a cast of six will perform numbers ranging from standards like 'The Way We Were' and 'Nobody Does It Better' through selections from his Broadway musicals (A Chorus Line, They're Playing Our Song, Sweet Smell of Success, The Goodbye Girl and Smile) and film scores (The Sting, Sophie's Choice). Courtney Crouse (of Theo Ubique's Chess) is the stage director and Chris Logan (of Theo's A Cole Porter Songbook and Bailiwick Chicago's Murder Ballad) is the choreographer. The press opening will be Saturday, June 6 at 8 p.m., following previews Thursday, June 4 at 7:30 p.m., and Friday, June 5 at 8 p.m.

The original 'princess posse' of last fall's sold-out, NY premiere limited engagement of DISENCHANTED! is making the transfer to Westside Theatre Upstairs (407 West 43rd Street) for an open-ended run. DISENCHANTED! began previews at Westside Theatre Upstairs on March 19, 2015, with an Opening Night slated for tonight, April 7, 2015.

Performances begin tonight, Friday, March 20 and run through Sunday, April 12. Press night is scheduled for Opening Night Friday, March 27. Appropriate for ages 17 +. As a concert production, there will be no live nudity, though documentary photographs of the original production will be projected.
