Brooklyn Arts Exchange is proud to announce Sight Lines: A Night of Performance in Dialogue with the Work of Michael Galasso, curated by Catherine Galasso. Featuring work by Laurie Berg, Fana Fraser, Georgia Gavran & Jonathan Doherty, Johnnie Cruise Mercer, Kristopher K.Q. Pourzal, and Ambika Raina. The show is Friday-Saturday, April 13-14, 2018 at 8pm.

From March 27-April 1, Mabou Mines is proud to present the work of its 2018 SUITE/Space artists in a festival-like setting-two performances each night for 6 nights in a row-in the newly renovated, state-of-the-art Mabou Mines Theater. The inaugural SUITE/Space artists, Tariq Al-Sabir, Tamar-kali, Davalois Fearon and Sanaz Ghajar, work in a variety of disciplines and share Mabou Mines' commitment to breaking new ground in form and content. Founded in the summer of 1970 as an artist-driven collective, Mabou Mines has a long history of fostering the next generation of artists through mentorships and residencies. SUITE/Space is a new performance initiative for artists that reflect New York City's rich cultural landscape and provides artistic advisement, development support, rehearsal space, and opportunities for public performance. 

Talk-backs will be held at Theater for the New City, 155 First Ave., after each Sunday matinee performance of 'Subway Story (A Shooting),' written and directed by William Electric Black. The talk-backs were developed to help elucidate for the play's audiences the pressures that drive the epidemic of gun violence in young people.

Presented by WestBeth Entertainment, SoHo Playhouse, Barrow Street Productions and Token Events, tickets go on sale on Thursday, January 25 at 10:00 AM.

Prospect Theater Company, under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director Cara Reichel and Managing Director Melissa Huber, will present MONUMENT, a collection of new mini-musicals in concert, the culmination of Prospect's 2018 Musical Theater Lab. In a career spanning over five decades, pianist Monty Alexander has built a reputation for exploring and bridging the worlds of American jazz, popular song, and the music of his native Jamaica, finding in each a sincere spirit of musical expression. He has performed and recorded with a wide array of distinguished artists such as Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, and Quincy Jones, and as a leader, Monty has recorded over 70 albums.

In Miller's 2017-18 Season Opener, the acclaimed pianist and Bach specialist Simone Dinnerstein and Boston's self-conducted chamber orchestra A Far Cry (in its Miller debut) will perform the New York premiere of a new piano concerto that Glass has written especially for them. As a follow up to Bach + Glass, Simone Dinnerstein will perform a recital that pairs Glass with Schubert at Miller Theatre on January 18, 2018.

In its 2017-18 season, the Grammy-nominated self-conducted chamber music collective A Far Cry joins pianist Simone Dinnerstein to premiere a new concerto for piano and strings composed for Dinnerstein by Philip Glass. In celebration of the composer's 80th birthday, select premiere performances of the concerto, paired with J. S. Bach's Keyboard Concerto in G minor, will take place in Boston, MA; New London, CT; at the Miller Theatre at Columbia University, NY; in Worcester, MA;  Palm Beach, FL; and at the Royal Conservatory in Toronto. A recording of the work for Glass' Orange Mountain Music label is scheduled for release in 2018.

Following its debut last year at the Toronto International Film Festival, KING OF THE DANCEHALL, produced by Nick Cannon's NCREDIBLE Productions, will make its debut on YouTube Red tomorrow, August 2 on Russell Simmons's All Def Digital channel.
