There's nobody quite like Roger Kellaway. In a career that has stretched over the last 60 years, while performing with many of the legendary jazz musicians of his time he has also written memorable film and television scores, composed classical works for major symphony orchestras, inspired what came to be known as “new age” music, and provided essential accompaniment and musical direction for iconic figures of American popular music like Elvis Presley, Barbra Streisand, Bobby Darin, Tony Bennett, Van Morrison and Joni Mitchell. Although Kellaway's soundtrack for the Streisand film “A Star is Born” received an Oscar nomination, and his compositions have been performed at Carnegie Hall and elsewhere by the likes of the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and National Symphony orchestras, he still may be most widely recognized for the closing theme (“Remembering You”) of the 1970s mega-hit TV series, All in The Family.

Meganne George, Indiana-born beloved New York City theatre production designer, passed away on July 30th in her home on City Island. She was 52.

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce the appointment Shantanique Moore, flutist, as the next recipient of the symphony's two-year fellowship designed to enable one young African American musician the ability to dedicate him or herself to the pursuit of an orchestral career. Third Man Records is excited to share its full slate of Record Store Day 2019 offerings. Topping the list is the Third Man Triple Inchophone 3' record player, available alongside a new 3' box set of The White Stripes singles. Third Man will also be releasing a 2xLP 180 gram black vinyl version of Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band's Trout Mask Replica, as well as Griot Galaxy's Kins LP in limited 'liquid darkness' vinyl. The London Philharmonic Orchestra today announced its 2019/20 season at Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall, confirming its reputation for bold, creative and distinctive programming that continues to inspire audiences on a journey of exploration and adventure. With the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams squaring off in the Big Game on February 3, the Boston Gay Men's Chorus (BGMC) and the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles have agreed on a challenge. If the Patriots defeat the Los Angeles Rams, the LA Chorus will perform Please Come to Boston by Dave Loggins. If the Rams are victorious, BGMC will perform Randy Newman's I Love LA and make it available online. The winner will also make a donation to GALA Choruses, the North American association serving the LGBTQ choral moving, for its work supporting emerging LGBTQ choruses.

On Today, November 8 at 8:00 p.m. Music Director Daniel Barenboim leads the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra-the lauded ensemble of young musicians from Israel, Palestine, and other Arab countries that Mr. Barenboim co-founded in 1999 with his late friend, the Palestinian literary scholar Edward W. Said-in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. The evening's program will feature Richard Strauss's Don Quixote-with violist Miriam Manasherov and cellist Kian Soltani stepping forward from the orchestra as soloists-as well as Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5. This performance-Carnegie Hall's Annual Isaac Stern Memorial Concert-will be broadcast live on WQXR 105.9 FM.
