The producers of IRVING BERLIN'S WHITE CHRISTMAS, the stage adaptation of the beloved classic film, have announced casting for the upcoming National Tour.

Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin will now begin performances on Friday October 30th, 2015 in Felder's Chicago theatrical home, the Royal George Theatre , 1641 N. Halsted Street, Chicago. Having broken all box office records in its World Premiere at Los Angeles' Geffen Playhouse, Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin makes its Midwest Premiere in a strictly limited pre-NYC and continuing National Tour engagement. The British import I FOUND MY HORN was originally scheduled for this presentation slot.  However, due to scheduling issues across the pond, I FOUND MY HORN will now appear in the spring slot at the Royal George Theatre.

You are never truly alone, not when you are in the company of a song, the great American songbook composer and lyricist reminds the opening night's audience of Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin at the Temple of Music and Art in downtown Tucson. Having broken Geffen Playhouse season production box office records, Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin returns to the Gil Cates Theater at the Geffen Playhouse for two weeks only, August 4-16, 2015.  The director is Trevor Hay, who collaborated with the performer and creator on An American Story, Abe Lincoln's Piano, Hershey Felder as Franz Liszt and The Pianist of Willesden Lane.

I remember as a kid always getting the movie HOLIDAYINN confused with the movie White Christmas, usually because they played them back to back, and of course, both feature the tuneful music of Irving Berlin, as well as a splendid performance by Bing Crosby. A few years back, when I first started reviewing theatre I covered The MUNY's early production of the stage version of White Christmas, and here I am years later taking in only the second presentation of HOLIDAYINN. I think this is a terrific show filled with eye-popping choreography, big splashy numbers, and enough romantic entanglements to please any fan of the original film. Megan Hilty will star in New York City Center's annual Gala Annie Get Your Gun: In Concert, a one-night-only performance of the classic Irving Berlin musical, on October 27, 2015. Directed by Tony Award winner John Rando, the Gala will feature The Encores! Orchestra led by Encores! Music Director Rob Berman. Additional casting will be announced at a later date. The event will help fund New York City Center's artistic and education programs.

As the days dwindled down to a precious few in 2014, a few cabaret goers and performers in what is affectionately but also self-mockingly called the “cabaret community” would sidle up and ask if I was planning my annual end-of-the year “Best Of” column, similar to the “Top 20 Bests and Favorites” piece over the first half of the year I posted back in early July. I would respond in the negative with very reasonable and believable excuses, but the truth is I didn't want to reveal my “Bests” of the year until the voting for the 2014 BroadwayWorld New York Cabaret Awards had ended. There's enough baggage and backstage whispering that comes with administering the BWW Awards, so I wasn't about to publish any opinions that might influence the vote while it was in process. I may be crazy but I'm not masochistic. But now all bets are off. You want lists? I'll give you lists.
