The St. Louis County Library Foundation presents bestselling author Chris Bohjalian for a discussion and signing of his latest novel 'The Sandcastle Girls' tonight, April 16, at 7:00 p.m. at Library Headquarters, 1640 S. Lindbergh Blvd.

This is the maiden show for GTA's new professional resident company in the gorgeous Sylvia Beard Theatre at the new Buford Community Center, and it more than gives urban-Atlantans reason to venture to the northern suburbs of Gwinnett and Hall counties. Directed by GTA's Artistic and Managing Director Jim Hammond, this four person cast treats Hitchcock's classic spy drama with a hilarious Monty Python-style sensibility, complete with lightning fast costume changes, outlandish physical comedy, and dozens of quirky accents. There is no doubt that this is one of the best pieces of theatre in the Atlanta-Metro area this year.

The 2013 Webster University Dance Ensemble, under the artistic direction of Beckah Reed, presents a concert exploring relationships and struggles, musicality and technology. Dig yourself out of the depths of winter doldrums with Trinity Rep's world premiere of Social Creatures, a strangely beautiful, beautifully strange 'dramedy' about the end of the world as we know it. Like nothing Trinity Rep audiences have seen before, this world premiere play was commissioned in 2010 from Jackie Sibblies Drury - a remarkable new playwright and graduate of the Brown MFA playwriting program.

The Columbus Symphony and Chorus will open this special program with the world premiere of Of Songs and Singing by the widely acclaimed composer Stephen Paulus, commissioned in honor of and conducted by Ronald Jenkins, director of the Columbus Symphony Chorus and Chamber Chorus since 1982. CSO Music director Jean-Marie Zeitouni will then take the podium to conduct Knoxville: Summer of 1915, Barber's nostalgic homage to small-town America featuring guest soprano Dominique Labelle, and will add guest baritone Joshua Hopkins for the soul-stirring A German Requiem by Brahms (named after the language in which it is sung) with its profound messages of peace, hope, and consolation.

The New York Choral Society (NYCS) announced today that award-winning stage and screen star Kathleen Turner will introduce Ralph Vaughan Williams's A Sea Symphony at Carnegie Hall on April 25 with a reading of the moving and evocative text written by the American poet Walt Whitman.

'The Royale' by Marco Ramirez, will be directed by Daniel Aukin in its World Premiere at Center Theatre Group's Kirk Douglas Theatre. The show begins previews April 28 and opens on May 5, running through June 2, 2013.

Russia's profound and far-reaching impact on 20th-century culture will be explored at the 2013 annual Bard SummerScape festival, which once again offers an extraordinary summer of music, opera, theater, dance, film, and cabaret, keyed to the theme of the 24th annual Bard Music Festival, Stravinsky and His World. Presented in the striking Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts and other venues on Bard College's bucolic Hudson River campus, the seven-week festival opens on July 6 with the first of two performances of A Rite (2013) by the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company and SITI Company, and closes on August 18 with a party in Bard's beloved Spiegeltent, which returns for the full seven weeks. Complementing the Bard Music Festival's exploration of “Stravinsky and His World,” some of the great Russian-born composer's most captivating compatriots provide key SummerScape highlights. These include the first fully-staged American production of Sergey Taneyev's opera Oresteia; the world premiere of an original stage adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov's seminal novel The Master and Margarita; and a film festival titled “Between Traditions: Stravinsky's Legacy and Russian Emigré Cinema.” Together, SummerScape's offerings will continue Bard's yearlong tenth-anniversary celebrations for the Frank Gehry-designed Fisher Center, which commence with a month of special performances in April.

Honoring the work and legacy of one of the great jazz composers and collaborators, the Music Institute of Chicago presents a Billy Strayhorn Festival October 26-28. The festival, presented in partnership with Billy Strayhorn Songs Inc., a family corporation of the Strayhorn heirs, includes two star-studded concerts featuring trumpet great Terell Stafford and a screening of the award-winning film Billy Strayhorn: Lush Life followed by a panel discussion.
