The Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP), the 2016 Musical America Ensemble of the Year, ends its 20th anniversary season with the Boston premiere of David Del Tredici's complete Child Alice (1981) featuring the acclaimed soprano Courtenay Budd. Based on poems prefacing Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking Glass and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, this 135-minute evening-length work changed the course of 20th century music.

42nd Street Moon concludes its 23rd season with Frank Loesser's glorious Napa Valley romance, the Tony Award-winning THE MOST HAPPY FELLA. This masterpiece with book, music and lyrics by Frank Loesser (Guys and Dolls, How to Succeed in Business …, Where's Charley?) is an unconventional and sweepingly romantic love story set in the vineyards of Napa Valley. Considered one of Loesser's greatest works, the stunning score includes "The Most Happy Fella," "Standing on the Corner," "Joey, Joey, Joey," "Rosabella," "Big D," "My Heart Is So Full of You" and "Song of a Summer Night." Directed by Cindy Goldfield, with musical direction by Dave Dobrusky, THE MOST HAPPY FELLA will run April 27 - May 17, 2016 (Press opening: Saturday, April 30) at the Eureka Theatre, 215 Jackson Street, San Francisco. NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts will present Irish actress Lisa Dwan in her internationally acclaimed Beckett Trilogy: Not /Footfalls/ Rockaby, running for six performances from April 13 - 17, 2016, at NYU Skirball Center. Beckett Trilogy will open on April 13, the 110th Anniversary of Samuel Beckett's birth, and the opening night performances will feature a post-show celebration and conversation honoring Beckett's legacy.

American Repertory Ballet and Princeton Ballet School announce the retirement of school director Mary Pat Robertson. Ms. Robertson began teaching at Princeton Ballet School in 1980, and became director in 1986. She is only the third director in the school's 62-year history. While a nationwide search for a new director is underway, Ms. Robertson will continue in her position through June 2016 to ensure a smooth and successful transition.

As BroadwayWorld reported this morning, Bette Midler will indeed return to Broadway in one of the most cherished shows in musical theater history when she takes on the role of Dolly Gallagher Levi in Michael Stewart's (book) and Jerry Herman's (music and lyrics) masterpiece, Hello, Dolly!. Directed by four-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Zaks, Hello, Dolly! will begin performances on Broadway on March 13, 2017, with an official opening night of April 20, 2017. Rehearsals begin one year from today.
This new production of Hello, Dolly!, the first new production of this classic musical to appear on Broadway since it opened more than fifty years ago, will have at its helm Jerry Zaks as its director, and will feature choreography by Tony Award-winner Warren Carlyle. The new Dolly! will pay tribute to the original work of legendary director/choreographer Gower Champion, which has been hailed both then and now as one of the greatest stagings in musical theater history.

Producer Larry G. Spangler and The Spangler Group announced today that T Bone Burnett has joined the creative team of Happy Trails, the new Broadway-bound musical based on the life and career of American icons Roy Rogers and his wife Dale Evans. The music world legend will be writing the score (music and lyrics) for the musical, which will feature a book by Academy Award-winner Marshall Brickman (Annie Hall, Manhattan, Jersey Boys, The Addams Family) and direction by two-time Tony Award-winner Des McAnuff (Jersey Boys, Big River, Tommy). Due to a scheduling conflict, the previously announced songwriting team of Alan Menken (music) and Glenn Slater (lyrics) has departed the production.
