American icon Loretta Lynn, who has delighted audiences for over five decades with her distinctive fusion of twang, grit and energy, makes a rare Omaha concert appearance at the Holland Performing Arts Center tonight, August 7, at 8:00 p.m.

Sarasota Opera is proud to announce casting for the 2015-2016 fall and winter season, truly the most climactic in the company's 57 year history. The season will feature the final two installments of the 28 year Verdi Cycle – The Battle of Legnano and Aida- in a grand spectacle of music, vocal prowess, awe-inspiring choruses, sumptuous scenery, and luxurious costumes. In addition, the company will present Beethoven's only opera, Fidelio, and Mozart's comedic Così fan tutte.

Willy Loman will be given a new lease on life this fall when New Yiddish Rep presents Arthur Miller's American classic "Death of a Salesman" in Yiddish, in a unique premiere that coincides with the centennial of Miller's birth on October 17.

On July 12-13 (9:30 & 7:30PM) Cristin Milioti will return to Joe's Pub after numerous sold out concerts, including the prestigious Lincoln Center's American Songbook. Cristin is known for her dramatic, comedic, and musical work on stage, television and in film, but best known for starring as 'Girl' in the Broadway smash hit musical ONCE, for which she won a Grammy Award and was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical. On film, Milioti was most recently seen in Martin Scorsese's THE WOLF OF WALL STREET playing Jordan Belfort's (Leonardo DiCaprio's) wife, Teresa Petrillo. Milioti also played Tracy McConnell aka 'The Mother' on CBS's hit comedy, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, and most recently joined the cast of season two on FX's Golden Globe-winning drama, FARGO. Last fall she starred in the NBC comedy, A TO Z. She's busy preparing for her new concert, but she checked in with BroadwayWorld earlier this week to update us on her life on the big screen, her upcoming return to the stage,  and so much more. The voice of the people sang and spoke out last night in Jazz at Lincoln Center's Rose Theater, Appel Room and Ertegun Atrium. Many of the world's finest musicians, and many of the finest citizens of NYC assembled to celebrate an effort to return 'The People's Opera' to New York. They did so in a Gala Concert and Dinner to honor the life of the late Maestro Julius Rudel, who was the Opera's General Director and Principal Conductor from 1957 to 1979.

It was famously dubbed 'The People's Opera' by Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia at its founding in 1943 and throughout its nearly 70 year history, the NYCO helped launch the careers of many of the world's greatest opera stars including Beverly Sills, Sherrill Milnes, Placido Domingo, Maralin Niska, Carol Vaness, Jose Carreras, Shirley Verrett, Tatiana Troyanos, Jerry Hadley, Catherine Malfitano, Samuel Ramey. Sills later famously served as the company's director and chief ambassador for the art form from 1979-1989. It also sought to produce an innovative choice of repertory, and provide a home for American singers and composers.

Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances. Not all news was good though, as we also suffered a loss of an incredible amount of talent. Below, BroadwayWorld sends a fond farewell to those who passed away in 2014.

Today we are talking to an instantly recognizable stage stalwart who has lit up Broadway and beyond for more than three decades since her debut in William Finn's IN TROUSERS - the one and only Mary Testa.
