Mike Stoller, the Grammy Award winning composer who is one half of the legendary songwriting team of Leiber and Stoller, will be honored with Chapman University's 30th Annual American Celebration Lifetime Achievement in the Arts Award at a Black-tie Gala to be held on Saturday, November 5, 2011 from 6:00 - 11:30 p.m. at Chapman Auditorium in Memorial Hall; Chapman University; One University Drive; Orange, CA 92866.

As previously reported, Roundabout Theatre Company has announced that Stephanie J. Block will join the Tony Award winning company of Anything Goes performing the role of 'Reno Sweeney' while Sutton Foster is filming the television pilot, Bunheads, for 3 weeks in November. Specific dates have been announced today and Block will officially be stepping into the role November 4 through November 22.

The 2011 Kurt Weill Book Prize for outstanding scholarship in music theater since 1900, carrying a cash prize of $5,000, has been awarded to Larry Stempel, Professor of Music at Fordham University, for his book Showtime: A History of the Broadway Musical Theater (W.W. Norton, 2010). In this captivating and richly researched critical history, Stempel traces the evolution of musicals from 19th-century minstrel shows and burlesques, through the 'golden age' of Show Boat and Oklahoma!, and into the new millennium, examining the works in relation to the larger historical and cultural forces that have shaped the genre.

The cast of Broadway's Golden Oldie's musical, BABY IT'S YOU!, will perform at a fundraising event benefitting Passaic High School on Sunday August 7, at 7:30pm. Florence Greenberg's daughter, Mary Jane, first saw the four singers that her mother would make into the Shirelles at a talent show in the auditorium of Passaic High School, and in honor of that historic event the BABY IT'S YOU! cast will be performing numbers from the Broadway musical that chronicles the meteoric rise of the legendary girl group. The benefit will take place in the newly refurbished auditorium of Passaic High School (170 Paulison Avenue, Passaic, NJ) and will also feature a performance by the Passaic High School Band and a special Q&A with the cast of BABY IT'S YOU!. Tickets are $20 at the door and 100% of the proceeds will benefit a performing arts scholarship fund for a deserving Passaic High School Student.

The Museum of the City of New York (MCNY) (1220 Fifth Avenue), in its all-new exhibition Joel Grey / A New York Life, examines the enduring impact that legendary actor Joel Grey and his adopted city have made on each other. Through rare artifacts from his stage and screen career, objects from his personal collection, and his own photography, MCNY offers a unique look at New York through Grey's eyes as well as a visual retrospective of his career. A private opening night reception will take place this evening, which also happens to be Grey's 79th birthday. It will open to the public tomorrow, and remain on display through Sunday, August 14.
