God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater

A Whole New World of Alan Menken, a concert written and performed by Alan Menken (with additional material by Jennifer Lucy Cook and Richard Kraft), is an evening of stories and songs for fans of Menken’s work, whether they’ve heard it in Disney films or on stage on Broadway. Directed by Kraft, the show promises audiences the opportunity to hear all of the hits they know and love with some revealing anecdotes from Menken’s life.

God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater is Kurt Vonnegut’s fifth novel and was published in 1965. Its Post-Modern Satire context paved way for Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five, arguably his most well-known work. In the novel, Vonnegut highlights the life and times of the consciously-bound multi-millionaire Eliot Rosewater.

The Walt Disney Family Museum will host Oscar-, Grammy-, Tony- and Golden Globe-winning composer and songwriter Alan Menken for an intimate evening of music and storytelling. The Old Globe today announced that its 2018-2019 Season will kick off with the world premiere of the new musical Heart of Rock and Roll, inspired by the songs of Huey Lewis and the News, featuring a book by Jonathan Abrams and story by Tyler Mitchell and Jonathan Abrams. It will be directed by Gordon Greenberg with choreography by Lorin Latarro and music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Brian Usifer. Heart of Rock and Roll will bepresented by special arrangement with Tyler Mitchell, W. Leo Kiely, Bill Kiely, Whitney Kiely Moehle, and Tamar Climan. Faust Theatre is wrapping up the 2016 -17 season that began with The Drowsy Chaperone by Bob Martin and Lisa Lambert, directed by Lily Nicholas, followed by a one-night only performance of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee by Rachel Sheinkin and Willian Finn, and finished the year with the summer smash-hit of Heathers the Musical by Laurence O'Keefe, both directed by Zach Faust, the latter joined by Frederick Rivera.
