New England Premiere of Kurt Vonnegut's GOD BLESS YOU, MR. ROSEWATER to Open at Cape Cod Community College

While the remarkable and long awaited New England Premier of Kurt Vonnegut's "God Bless You Mr. Rosewater," is just a few short weeks away from being played out on Cape Cod Community College's Tilden Arts Center Main Stage.

The production, staged at the Tilden Center for the Arts, is a partnership between Cape Cod Community College and the Cotuit Center for the Arts. This is the second collaboration, between the two organizations that brought 'Noises Off' to the Tilden Arts Center in 2014.

David Kuehn, Executive Producer of Cotuit Center for The Arts, noted, "It's exciting to embark on our second collaboration with CCCC's theater department. We look forward to engaging our community with the students, faculty and audiences of the college in presenting this fantastic, rarely performed work whose book was authored by a local renowned and controversial artist with music composed by one of the most successful Broadway composers in history. We are all in for an exciting creative experience"

That "creative experience" will be delivered by a very talented cast of CCCC students and Community actors guided by well-known Director Vana Trudeau. In the ensemble are: Andrew Nesom (Yarmouth), Rachel Hatfield (Brewster), Norbert Brown (Bourne), Sean Whalen (Harwich), Dominic Fucile (Waquoit), Gioia Sabatinelli (Mashpee), Meghan Allard (Plymouth), April Crowley, Julie Ellis-Clayton (Bourne), Chris Kassarjian (Dennis), Dan Svirsky (Dennis), Taylor Guildford (Sandwich), Emily Tullock (Harwich), Mary Cipriani-Pratt (Wareham), Emily Entwisle (Dennis), Adam Harris (Centerville), Raven Clarke (Falmouth), Tyler Burke (Barnstable), and more.

Ms Trudeau, focusing on the themes of the piece which resonate as soundly in 2016 as they did in 1979 explained, "It is serendipitous that this Vonnegut piece resurfaces during a time when the very value of people, of human beings, is questioned in our social and political spheres. It seems an impossible challenge to let go of the compulsion to determine a person's significance based on economic, religious, ethnic, physical and social identities. This piece invites us to participate in an experiment, one that just may unlock a grand secret that sets us free to care about, and for, each other simply because."

This satirical tour de force is a musical adaptation that marked the first collaboration between Broadway and Disney legends, Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, and marked the beginning of one of the most successful partnerships of all time. Following this adaptation, Menken and Ashman created massive hits, 'Little Shop of Horrors", "Sister Act" "The Little Mermaid", and "Beauty and the Beast," garnering Oscars, Tony's and Grammy awards along the way.

The production will be performed between April 14th and April 24th. Evening performance will be April 14th, April 15th, April 16th, April 21st, April 22nd, and April 23rd at 7.30pm. Matinees will be April 16th, April 17th, April 23rd and April 24th at 2pm. Tickets will be $15 for general admission, $10 for senior citizens and $5 for students.
