The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series author/illustrator Jeff Kinney, a UMD alumnus, will give a presentation on how graphic novels, long-form cartoons, and other innovative works can help motivate readers. A panel discussion featuring Mr. Kinney and faculty experts on literacy from the UMD College of Education will follow. 

Second Stage Theatre has announced complete casting for its upcoming New York premiere production of Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Tracy Letts' play, MAN FROM NEBRASKA, directed by David Cromer.

The Hostos Center for the Arts & Culture presents Repertorio Español performing the popular comedy La nena se casa (Our Little Girl is Getting Married) on Saturday, October 29, 7 PM in the Repertory Theater at Hostos Community College.  Called "acerbic with biting wit," La nena se casa is a satirical indictment of the vanity, superficiality and desperation of Puerto Rico's upper classes. La nena se casa was just recently retired from Repertorio Español's regular rotation, and the Hostos performance is the only performance currently scheduled of this popular play which will be performed in Spanish with English surtitles above the stage

Dancing With The Survivors®  - in its fourth year - celebrates breast cancer survivors who thrive in their recovery and make a difference in the lives of other cancer patients. Seven courageous women from southeast Michigan will perform ballroom style dances with their daughters, sons, husbands and dance professionals from Fred Astaire Dance Studio, Bloomfield Hills. They'll share inspiring stories of their breast cancer journeys while raising money for The Pink Fund's mission: providing non-medical financial assistance to breast cancer patients in active treatment.

I was lucky enough to sit down with Kevin, hear about his experience at Shenandoah so far and learn about his process working on the rock musical with current theatre students.

Irish Repertory Theatre has announced its Fall 2016 Season. On the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage will be FINIAN'S RAINBOW, adapted and directed by Irish Rep Artistic Director Charlotte Moore, and starring Melissa Errico ('Billions', Encores! Do I Hear A Waltz?), who will reprise her role from the acclaimed 2004 production.
