The former star of television's 'Adventures in Paradise' Gardner McKay, also an author, sailor and man of the sea his entire life, wrote Sea Marks in 1981. The two person play portrays an unlikely couple, one living in Ireland, and the other in Liverpool, past their passionate youth who revive the age-old art of writing love letters to woo. While Gardner wrote his play in the 21st century, and subsequently won a LA Drama Circles' Critics Award, the 1960's setting remains more than half a century removed from contemporary cell phones with email and texting at one's fingertips. Soulstice Theatre stages the heartwarming, winsome play in their intimate St. Francis Theater with winning results.

In Shakespeare's 400th anniversary year, Cheek by Jowl today announce that their critically acclaimed Russian language production of Measure for Measure will open the 2016 Shakespeare Festival at Hamlet's Castle, Kronborg, Elsinore, with performances from 1 to 7 August. The festival will also celebrate a landmark anniversary, marking the 200th year of performing Shakespeare in this traditional setting.

On Saturday, May 7, 2016, VNA California will host their Annual "One Enchanted Evening" Gala at the Palm Springs Hilton from 5 to 9 p.m.  Presented by The Advocate and Here Media (Media Sponsor), this evening promises to be an event to remember when VNA will honor Lainie Kazan with The John L. With the launch of the second season of OpenICE, a multi-year program to engage new listeners for contemporary music through an outpouring of programming that is free and open to the public, the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) announces the appointment of Ryan Muncy (ICE saxophonist) and Alice Teyssier (ICE flutist/vocalist) as the new Co-Directors of OpenICE. Muncy and Teyssier have been members of ICE since 2014 and, in addition to their musical roles, serve in the capacities of Director of Institutional Giving and Artistic Operations Associate, respectively.

As BroadwayWorld reported over the weekend, Maureen O'Hara, known for her roles in golden age Hollywood films such as MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET and THE PARENT TRAP and star of Broadway's CHRISTINE, died on October 24. She was 95.

Beverley Knight stars in Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical Cats in the role of Grizabella. Returning to the London Palladium from tonight 23 October 2015 in a strictly limited 11 week season, Cats is booking to 2 January 2016.
