This summer, celebrate your love of classic film as the 12th annual Cinema at the Square series returns to PlayhouseSquare August 6-23, 2009. At a packed event last night at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, TheatreWorks, the nationally-acclaimed theatre of Silicon Valley, announced its 2009-2010 season to a crowd of enthusiastic patrons and supporters. Under the direction of Founding Artistic Director Robert Kelley, the company is celebrating 40 years of bringing quality theatre, including more than 50 world premieres, to the San Francisco Bay Area.

At a packed event last night at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, TheatreWorks, the nationally-acclaimed theatre of Silicon Valley, announced its 2009-2010 season to a crowd of enthusiastic patrons and supporters. Under the direction of Founding Artistic Director Robert Kelley, the company is celebrating 40 years of bringing quality theatre, including more than 50 world premieres, to the San Francisco Bay Area. The season announcement, which culminated a day of public activities launching the company's Ruby Anniversary, revealed that TheatreWorks will once again be presenting the area's first looks at several news-making productions, and deepening its commitment to presenting new works. The company announced a vibrant season leading off with an extensive New Works Festival that will draw national artists to the area; a World Premiere musical to be directed by the Tony Award-winning director of Les Miserables; two West Coast Premieres; two Regional Premieres, and two classics brought to the stage.

Arena Stage welcomes Josh Kornbluth, writer/performer of Red Diaper Baby and Love & Taxes, in his hilarious and provocative one-man show Citizen Josh. A Jonathan Reinis Production, Citizen Josh is written and performed by Kornbluth in collaboration with Arena's Associate Artistic Director David Dower.

The Public Theater announced today it would extend David Henry Hwang's new play Yellow Face for an additional two weeks to accommodate rising audience demand. Directed by Leigh Silverman, this world premiere comedy will now run through Sunday, January 13.

The Public Theater will conclude its fall season with the world premiere of David Henry Hwang's new play Yellow Face, directed by Leigh Silverman. A co-production with the Center Theatre Group, this backstage comedy begins previews on Monday, November 19 and will run through Sunday, December 23 with an official press opening on Monday, December 10 at 7 PM.

Manhattan Theatre Club's production of Translations by Brian Friel opens tonight, January 25th, at the Biltmore Theatre

The Manhattan Theatre Club production of TRANSLATIONS by Brian Friel begins previews tonight, January 4 at the Biltmore Theatre (261 West 47th Street) in preparation for a Thursday, January 25 opening night. The co-production with McCarter Theatre Center is directed by Tony Awardâ-winner Garry Hynes (Beauty Queen of Leenane).

Full casting, as well as the creative team, has been announced for the upcoming Manhattan Theatre Club production of Brian Friel's Translations, which will begin previews at the Biltmore Theatre on January 4th and open on January 25th, 2007

The previously-announced Manhattan Theatre Club production of Clifford Odets' The Country Girl, which was slated for a Broadway run at the Biltmore Theatre this season, will now be replaced by a revival of the Brian Friel play Translations

The production will star Josh Strickland as Tarzan, Jenn Gambatese as Jane, Merle Dandridge as Kala, Shuler Hensley as Kerchak, Chester Gregory II as Terk, Timothy Jerome as Professor Porter and Donnie Keshawarz as Clayton. Daniel Manche and Alex Rutherford will alternate in the role of Young Tarzan.

Disney has announced that Tarzan will being previews on March 24, to open on May 10, 2006.

With James Earl Jones out of commission with pneunomia until August, the show will close on June 26.

It was announced today that the upcoming Broadway production of ON GOLDEN POND, starring the legendary James Earl Jones and Tony Award winner Leslie Uggams, has been nominated for 4 Helen Hayes Awards, the prestigious awards that pay tribute to excellence in professional theater in Washington, DC. The production premiered last Fall at The Kennedy Center.
