The 71st Annual Tony Awards are this Sunday June 11th at 8/9c hosted by Kevin Spacey. It's the biggest award show of the Broadway season and it closes out a long awards season for Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals and plays. We can't help but wonder what chances this year's Best Musical and Best Play nominees have of taking home the ultimate prize...

Celebrate Broadway's biggest night with two of theatre's most beloved stars: two-time Tony Award nominee Brad Oscar and the previously announced Cady Huffman, his co-star from the original cast of the blockbuster musical The Producers.

Irish Repertory Theatre has announced more performers for SONDHEIM AT SEVEN, this season's Gala Benefit production, on Tuesday, June 13th at 7 PM at The Town Hall (123 West 43rd Street, NYC).

Laguna Playhouse has announced that acclaimed actor Hal Linden (replacing the previously announced Bruce Davison) has been added to its very special theatrical event also starring Gregory Harrison, Dan Lauria, Charles Shaughnessy, French Stewart & Vanessa Stewart in TESLA: A RADIO PLAY FOR THE STAGE, written by Dan Duling and directed by Michael Arabian.

Featuring a full orchestra and chorus under the direction of John Bell, performers for the evening include Nancy Anderson, Melissa Errico, Mark Evans, Danielle Ferland, Malcolm Gets, Jeremy Jordan, Rebecca Luker  Howard McGillin, Ryan Silverman and Max Von Essen, plus more to be announced and special surprise guests!

Irish Repertory Theatre has announced its Summer 2017 Season. On the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage will be WOODY SEZ: THE LIFE & MUSIC OF WOODY GUTHRIE, directed by Nick Corley (Kissing Jessica Stein).

On Wednesday, April 19 at 7:00 p.m. at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, New York Festival of Song presents Honoring Stephen Sondheim, an evening to benefit NYFOS's 29th Season. The Gala is co-chaired by Jamie Bernstein and Hal Prince, and Guest of Honor Stephen Sondheim will be in attendance.

Balanchine choreographed 425 works over the course of 60-plus years, and his works are considered masterpieces and performed by ballet companies all over the world. So you can image how thrilled I was to find out Los Angeles Ballet was going to present BALANCHINE: MASTER OF THE DANCE as their final selection of their 2016/2017 season. In it, three of his most outstanding ballet choreographies are presented: Divertimento No. 15 featuring music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; Prodigal Son with music by Sergei Prokofiev; and Who Cares? with music by George Gershwin, adapted and orchestrated by Hershy Kay.

At closing, Georgie: My Adventures with George Rose will have played 8 preview and 54 regular performances. A national tour is planned for later this summer.

Two-time Tony Award winner Helen Gallagher has joined the cast of the previously announced 70, Girls, 70 concert at FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club. Ms. Gallagher, who will serve as the evening's narrator, joins a starry cast of Broadway veterans in the 1971 Kander and Ebb-tuner, set for April 17th, 2017 at 7:00pm and 9:30pm. True, sometimes it takes years for art to truly be understood and appreciated, but theatre fans are well aware that it doesn't necessarily take that long to recognize some of the Tony voters' biggest mistakes. Next week marks six months from the 2017 Tony Awards, and to celebrate the half-way point, we're taking a closer look at some of those outright 'Huh?' winners of the past.

New York's Broadway and London's West End have long been the biggest destinations for live theater, and now, a new exhibition opening at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts honors the rich creative talent and award-winning productions in both cities. Co-curated by The Library for the Performing Arts and the V&A, where the exhibition debuted earlier this year, in partnership with the Society of London Theatre (SOLT), Curtain Up: Celebrating the Last 40 Years of Theatre in New York and London highlights how the theatre districts of both cities have flourished and developed since 1976. The exhibition, which opens at The Library for the Performing Arts in Lincoln Center onOctober 31, 2016  and is on display through June 30, 2017.
