Last summer, a group form the Ohio Humanities Council visited Piqua to consider it as one of their Ohio Chautauqua sites for 2017.  Unfortunately, they were not selected, but they did encourage the group to develop their own Chautauqua event.  Well, give folks from Piqua a challenge and they deliver.  So a dedicated committee officially began working on Piqua Chautauqua! The dates for this event will be September 19, 20 & 21, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. and will take place at Hance Pavilion, located in Fountain Park in Piqua.

Roundabout Theatre Company presents the new Broadway production of J. B. Priestley's Time and the Conways, directed by Tony winner Rebecca Taichman (Indecent). The 2017 Tony Awards are in the history books, so now it's time to look ahead at the new Broadway season... and fear not- it's a doozy already. Opening September 22, Hart House Theatre is 'stoked' to present the cult-favourite, glam-rock extravaganza, Hedwig and the Angry Inch. ???????APRA AMCOS has announced the winning Australian songwriters and composers in the 2017 APRA PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AWARDS (PDAs).

Baryshnikov Arts Center's (BAC) Fall 2017 music presentations include BAC Salon: Telemann, Farrin, Wolfe + Prokofiev featuring the New York premiere of a work by Julia Wolfe (October 5 and 6); violin virtuoso Gidon Kremer performing Mieczyslaw Weinberg's 24 Preludes, Op. 100 (October 31 and November 1); and BAC Salon: Pauline Oliveros featuring IONE and International Contemporary Ensemble (November 28).

This July, Carnegie Hall brings together close to 200 of the best teen musicians from across the country for a month of exceptional music making as part of two exciting ensembles. The critically-acclaimed National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA), now entering its fifth year, is comprised of 116 musicians, ages 16-19. NYO2, a new group launched in summer 2016 for younger players, ages 14-17, was created with a particular focus of attracting talented students from communities traditionally underserved or underrepresented in the classical music field. In total, the musicians of NYO-USA and NYO2 come from 40 US states, plus Puerto Rico. Both programs are free, ensuring that all promising young players can have the opportunity to take part in this unique community of musicians-learning from a world-class faculty, playing alongside talented peers, and performing with leading artists on the stages of some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including Carnegie Hall.
